How far would you go for the perfect baguette and a mouth watering eclair?
Sometimes a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do… so I did… I took the train to Paris and feasted on some of the most delicious gateaux I have tasted… Not the way to start the New year… I know… I should be full of resolve and resolution… but I prefer to think that a petite taste of Paris is far better for my psyche than a list of restraint…There is nothing more indulgent than roaming the streets in search of the perfect pastry… and that’s what I did.
As I boarded the train home, baguette under my arm, I couldn’t wipe the smile of my face… Total indulgence, simple pleasures… they make life grand… xv

Good for you Vicki. A woman after my own heart! A-M xx
Eclairs are my indulgence too – off to sample them at these two addresses.
Bon week-end,
Mimi
Bonjour,
Gros bisous
I wish, I wish, I wish…
My mouth is watering at the thought of a warm french baguette. My week spot is sweets, but not just any sweets… crisp tarte tatin, souffle au chocolat, bavaroise, baba au rhum… will be in Paris for a couple of days next week… can already taste my first cafe-tartine in Saint Germain. Will try to make a run to your boulangerie.
Bon week end, Francine
Oh joy Vicki! Finding the perfect spot for the most scrumptious pastries…well worth the time, an adventure at that!

You did not!!!! What fun, so wish I could jump on a train to Paris whenver I get a craving.
Sounds like a divine way to spend the day Vicki. Much love xo
Hello Vicki
Never for one moment regret indulging in what your heart desires. Infinitely better than lettuce leaves. Sometimes we must satisfy our craving.
Have a delightful weekend
Helen xx
Good girl. Sometimes you just have to live a little and go with the urge.
What a gorgeous photo, chere Vicki!
Treating yourself is all part of la joie de vivre, n'est-ce pas?
Wonderful…miam, miam!
xoxo,

Beautiful! Nothing better than fresh
Yes! I would walk a mile to have one of those eclairs or fresh baguette. Enjoy your day!
How how how I envy you !! But envy is bad, yes? So I guess I'll keep loving you, enjoying your adventures, and thanking you for sharing them with us. Too much wonderful in this photo, but just so you know, I've never eaten an eclair in my life!
.. how fun … BTW, I just read Maugham's "Up at the Villa" which you recommended … and thoroughly enjoyed it .. a great little read for a lazy day. I'm looking for more like it, I think you posted some other suggestions. Thanks so much, Karen.in.CT@gmail.com … Best in the New Year .. Karen
oh la la my mouth is watering + Happy Weekend, Vicki. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
Oh! What delight! What whimsy. You have truly mastered the art of French living. Taking delight when you can. I live just outside of NYC, a hop and a jump. It's warm today, the sky is milky gray and there's a soft mist. It's a sky for Paris. Maybe if I speed travel, magically somehow, I'll have an eclair or a slice of what looks like cherry strudel.
xoxo thank you
I wish I could just board a train to a Paris bakery! The pastries in that photo look incredible! There is a little bakery near my house though – I might need to make a visit there today

I'm definitely trying both of these…..the small of freshly baked baguette is sublime. Simple pleasures!!!
l would have done exactly the same thing. There are times when we just have to delight in honouring the need for fabulous pastries !
I love French boulangeries – isn't it hard to even find a bad one!!!!!!?
I love how the village ones open in the morning for crispy croissants and pain au chocolate, then close and re-open in time to buy a freshly-baked baguette for dinner. Nothing beats fresh-baked anything.
I just posted on my recent, all too brief, visit to Sydney Vicki, and will soon post about Brisbane and the Gold Cost. Not sure if you are from either area but you may enjoy the pics!!!
Happy weekend – Mary
Lucky You.
I remember that bread and cheese and a good wine. After a hard day that's the best part of the day.. Yvonne
P.S. This is one of your pictures, like the shot of your kitchen way back when, that I keep going back to. All afternoon. Oi…
Thank you Vicki….I have added these to my list to visit for later this year…..I'm like a child at Christmas, I cannot wait to return to Paris!!

Couldn't imagine anything more sublime than than that.
Oh my heart just ached for Paris when I read this post… it is so evocative of being in that beautiful city. It reminded me so much of being there…
Total indulgence, simple pleasures, A MUST! Aww, and in Paris, be still my heart! I love, love, love Paris!
I'm sitting here trying to imagine what it must be like to decide to go to Paris, climb on a train and be there in time to procure pastries and return home in the same day. Vicki, such whims are life's treasures ~ I'm glad you indulged. Bon weekend…
They all look delicious and how does one make up their mind?
With such a beautiful Boulangerie, how could anyone resist?
I heartily agree. Starting the year off with things that make you smile is much better than starting the year off with restraint & feeling miserable!! Mmmm, I will now spend the weekend dreaming of Parisian delicacies!
