Yesterday I walked into the kitchen and thought… an edit is in order, a make-over, a change of face. Our kitchen has a large wooden table that runs the length of the room and it tends to be the place where I abandon all my bits and pieces. I have had cottons and ribbons, cups and saucers sitting on the end of the table since the beginning of the year… it wasn’t that they didn’t look pretty… I needed to re-order a little.
So I did… and found… that despite my colourful mood… the white and the beige grabbed my attention… The nougat I brought home from Saint Tropez… my new Plenty cookbook… a couple of bamboo candle holders that I picked up recently… and finally, I emptied the sugar cubes into glass jars… Glass jars filled with anything… sweets, sugars, ribbons, laces, dried leaves, herbs… they are a true love of mine… I have always followed the principal that lots of one thing is a great look… and I think the sugar, as well as being practical, looks fab…

I have also been given some of the most gloriously scented sachets you could ever imagine… from Mi – Septembre in Paris… thank you Marc… These divine little linen bags, so beautifully made, are fragrancing my world with clove, cinnamon and star anise… One is from the classique collection and the other from the nacre… I cannot begin to describe to you how luscious they smell… The only difficult decision is where they should live… Originally, I placed them on the table to spice up our kitchen… next they went into the linen drawers… and then I had to take them out and bring them to my desk, to savour as we chat… Deep breath and sigh is all I can say…

Next the cupboards… I made a start… but this was a bigger job than a lazy Sunday allowed for so I concentrated on the white… mixing the Astier de Villatte pieces, a vintage set of coffee cups from a long ago brocante and the Pillivuyt…
Do you enjoy re-editing your kitchen… or your home? I can’t help myself… I am not sure if it is treatable or not… but I rather enjoy the maladie… xv

I love re-editing every room in my home, but especially the kitchen. These photos are gorgeous, Vicki, and exactly the hues I am finding myself drawn to as well. We are moving to our new home in a week, and as I pack my favorite dishes and treasures, I’m dreaming of the new space. I’m craving lots of white, driftwood, stone, and ocean colors. A shop here in town sells Astier de Villatte dishes, and you have confirmed for me that a few pieces will mix beautifully with my vintage ironstone.
I’ve been missing visits to your blog these past few weeks! As we prepare for our move I’m not online much, but looking forward to getting back to a regular routine very soon. Hope you are well! xo Gigi
Vicki, sometimes I like to see neutral colours, it can be quite relaxing for a change. I like rearanging the kitchen but have so many collections find it difficult to put them away. Love your vintage china, such a lovely colour. Your vignette on the table is lovely too.xx
I do re-edit from time to time but not often enough. Thanks for the inspiration – beautiful!
Vicki-
You just know how to do things right. Every space you create is cozy and beautiful.
Happy Monday.

The sugar cubes look so inviting. Makes me want to sit down for a nice long cup of coffee or tea. However, the chocolates just look too pretty to open. I have the Plenty cookbook and have not made ONE thing yet! IF you do, please post about it.
I love to re-edit…makes you see things with new eyes.
VIcki I feel inspired to do some editing after seeing the lovely styling you have achieved with the goodies from your travels.I am spring cleaning at the moment and looking forward to Spring here in Australia.I always feel inspired to edit rooms in Spring.Sugar cubes look great.XTrish
I love your re-edit, and I’m jealous of Gigi now preparing for an entire re-edit in her new home. I love re-arranging lovely things to bring that faience front and center, to move my quaint and colorful Tabac jar … with flowers … to the side table. It is simply a soothing way to reinvent your world. Thanks for sharing your calm and sophisticated white and beige kitchen.
Vicki,
Re-editing is so much fun, and affordable. Shuffling existing items spices things up and makes me very happy. I love your neutrals and the mix of textures and items is so appealing. You’ve inspired me to play around with a cupboard or counter surface this week, thank you. Have a great week now that your home.

I also enjoy the maladie Vicki…and such gorgeous photos. A bientot.
Hi Vicky, it’s been quite a while since I have visited you here on the blog, but I read your posts often, as they are delivered to my in-box!
I fully understand your need to re-edit, and I share in this activity as well… I truly enjoy fluffing and making everyday objects look pretty, why else do we have them? One of the best tricks is to color coordinate or simply use what you have, just as you did…
Pretty post
I have recently been re-editing my entire home! It started with one project and led to another and another. Having several days off from work really allows the creative juices to flow, because it does take time to first think, and then do. I too have a hard time putting things away because I enjoy looking at them. It is fun to look at things with a fresh perspective and mix things up a bit. Makes me feel like I have new treasures without spending a dime!
Astier de Villatte makes my heart skip a beat! I adore your cups and the combination of textures with other white pieces. Actually, it was an Astier search that led me to your beautiful blog. Your table looks amazing and I particularly love that your table is laden with items that are used day to day. Thank you for the inspiration. Cheers, Katherine
Good morning Vicki dear!
It is good to be back in Blogland once again after having company stay for a week. I love your kitchen re-edit and I have done the same thing before my guests arrived. There is a simplicity in the French mindset of home décor, especially the Provençale look. Simple whites with textured motifs and plan glass jars line my cupboards; fragrance such as lavender wafts in the air and our sumptuous meals on my pine table in our dining room were savored with a rich taste for summer vegetables. A chandelier hangs in my kitchen, quite unheard of in most American kitchens, so that is a stunner when we have visitors! But these simple yet ELEGANT choices make us happy, don’t they?
Have a splendid day! Anita
I love editing and rearranging my things too. Who would have thought sugar cubes could look so artistic?
Very pretty.
So pretty, Vicki! You are so good at arranging things. And I now want a jar of sugar cubes

RE-Editing is my sickness! I do it constantly, and really find it refreshing. Sometimes I take down all my art, put it together, then re hang it in different ways around the house, then everything takes on a new look. Fun, isn’t it? I love our kitchen and all your goodies.

You have such a talent and eye for styling. Every arrangement always turns out beautifully. Thank you for the lovely comment, Vicki! xo
I have been doing the same thing in my kitchen. It all started with the china cannisters I found at the brocante in Sault! The end of summer seems to prod me to get organized. Must be thinking about the busyness of the holidays approaching! Thanks for your lovely and motivating website.
Vicki I think it is so energizing to give a room a different look just by using different jars, candlesticks, and other accessories!
