Paris and the Maison Objet Show are two different things… Attending the Maison &Objet is a different kind of visit to make to Paris… The M&O is held outside of Paris in a large ‘park’ where many of the major commercial shows are held during the year. The show is massive… and it is held in 8 huge exhibition centres and it is frenetic… It’s the kind of place that you need to take a deep breath, be well prepared for and go forth with boundless energy… But having said that… it is so exciting…
Everything you have ever seen, read about, dreamed and though of is showing in one place… when it comes to home wares that is…
It is a definitive show and simply put, M&O is a decor, decorative and design heaven. The reason to attend is to be inspired, to see the trends or to buy wholesale… I go because I want to know the future moods and directions… I am also gathering ideas for our little renovation in Saint Rémy de Provence, Le Petit Bijou…

Yesterday, we concentrated on the smaller exhibits… the china, the lighting, the decorative objects… the candles, the soaps, the gift items.. I am here with Sande from A Gift wrapped Life... and it’s fun… especially because we share so many interests in common…
I noticed that colour is making a big comeback… everything was vibrant… Multi textures were evident… and pattern, there was lots of pattern everywhere… The greige look was about… but less so… the accessories were a riot of colour… Even the scented candles were encased in colourful glass…

Flowers were everywhere… especially on the lighting… How fabulous is this lamp? This is an idea I would love to create…

Velvet chairs in every shade… contemporary colour, traditional buttoning… brilliant combination…

And this wall colour… it was so striking and happy… colour is happy… Why do I think I can’t live with colour like this? Especially when I am in the city…

and the china… if I could have taken these tea cups home… I think I would have… xv

So jealous…we had such fun there despite the very sore feet that felt about ready to fall off at the end of each day!! But so worth it!!
Looks like an amazing riot of color. It must be sensory overload. Those tea cups are gorgeous – it would be hard not to be happy drinking from a rosy cup like that! XO

Gorgeous pictures, thank you Vicki. I’m thrilled that color is coming back. I love bits of intense color against a calm, neutral background. However, those deep wall colors are intensely beautiful.
Vicki – Gorgeous pictures – I love your blog! I just started a travel lifestyle blog – http://www.youmaybewandering.com – I hope you can check it out and follow it! Thanks!!
Wow what eye-popping fun! I can’t wait to see/hear more about what finds it way to the San Remy renovation. Have a wonderful time and remember to take time for a tea or a coffee break!
Oh dear! If bright colours are an upcoming trend, I’m not going to be buying anything. Oh well – it’s a good way to save money for when muted colours are back in style again!
Love the colors! Those velvet chairs are gorgeous.. and those tea cups are so pretty. Have fun!
The photos are beautiful!

Hi Vicki, I love this post. I decided that I was tired of the griege thing a few months ago and have been emboldened to lacquer ’40s pieces in bright red and upholster a deco venetian chair in “almost purple”–it is a bit slow on the uptake here in So. California. But I colors make me happy and I know that some one will understand some day. Have a wonderfully inspiring week. Mary
I think I want those red china tea cups and one of the velvet armchairs (I would go all the way and get the red one). Oh this is decorative and design heaven indeed.
