This pup was a regular shopper in Le Bon Marché… at least her mother was…
She sat there, on the stool, in the shoe department… just like that.
She was patient and watched the shoes come and go…
She had done this before…

It was almost too much to take in… the Chanel bag, the diamante lead, the decorative coat…
I could not have styled her better myself…
This pooch was dressed up for her day out at Le Bon Marché… like all good Parisian women…
What a contrast to my French ‘farm boy’, Apache…
He is permanently covered in mud and weighs in at 120 kilos…
Diamonds, Chanel and ‘glam’… not quite him… I just can’t see it…
The vintage ‘chemises’ and the laces are ‘burning a hole’ in my cupboard… I cannot wait to give them to you… so if you haven’t liked, shared or commented yet… or you want an extra chance… please subscribe to French Essence and click on Facebook… Tuesday I will announce the winners… and in the meantime, I will keep looking to see if I can find anymore…
Have a happy Friday… and thank you for all your wonderful comments… xv

I just visited Le Bon Marche for the first time last week…of course I had my 3 year old with me. I noticed that I was the only one with a child. However, there were plenty of pups there!
The pups go everywhere in Paris…
I love that you can bring your dog into Le Bon Marche and that this dog has been beautifully attired whilst maintaining his or her comfort.
To me, it is still extraordinary… when I see these little ‘chiens’ so perfectly coiffed..I am still very Australian at heart… and have a more ‘earthy’ view about dogs…
The first photo is wonderful – it’s almost as if she is guarding the bag!! That leash certainly deserves its ‘Glam’ name and what an outfit (très mignon!) Seeing these cuties (especially when they are so often just peeping out from a bag) is another reason why I can sit for so long ‘people’ watching in Paris.
Sometimes I am not sure where to look first…
Isn’t he darling, lucky puppy to be dressed so chic.xx
PS, I think on second little look,SHE would not be impressed I called her he,especially with the little girly outfit
She was a most sophisticated pup…
Hi Vicki, what an amazing image. Just wonderful. That’s something I wish was more prevalent in Australia – the dog friendliness. I’d love to take my furry girl shopping and out for a coffee and a puppacinno.
Have a wonderful weekend.
ps. I posted some of my recent Paris inspired creations on my blog the pother day. I’d love to know what you think
The puppy is definitely GLAM! She is guarding the Chanel bag. Dogs have the best life ever! My dog is a Pug. He is male and he doesn’t like shopping. I tried once to bring him shopping to my favourite stores including the Chanel boutique here and he was not impressed. It didn’t get him excited. He prefers to hang out and play in our garden. Have a wonderful Friday.
My daughter wants a pug too… I keep saying that I can’t look after another pup as I am always on the move… I will let you know who wins…
She is adorable! Too cute!
I just showed these pictures to my daughter and she said “see mommy, we should dress up Max when we take him out”. Max is our little Shih Tzu .But poor Max only gets dressed up on Halloween and he hates it!
Hope you have a great weekend.
x
I think you should dress up Max…
Dear Vicki
You have to love the French and their adoration of dogs. Dog beauty parlours, bars de chiens along seaside walks so the pets don’t go thirsty etc. As you know, if you compliment a French dog, his owner will be thrilled and tell you all about their pet’s enchanting and naughty little habits, treating you like a long lost friend because you’ve recognised the great charm of their loved one. But I still can’t get over seeing dogs being pushed in special puppy prams with plastic windows so they can watch the sights as they move along. Our Jack Russel would have been much happier trotting along on a lead, or rather taking us for a walk at the end of his lead. Best wishes, Pamela
It is a unique quality about the French… and I haven’t quite worked out ‘why’ as yet…
Vicki! the photo and post so make me long for a return to Paris! and this time with our two little Yorkies (Dolce – a boy & Gabbana – a girl) where they can accompany us almost everywhere!!! Tres chic!! xo HHL
Such fun names for your Yorkies…
Only in Paris, and isn’t it just wonderful. I see it occasionally in the US, and others roll their eyes. It’s just so French, and I love to see it. Darling post, thanks.

Funny… the cultural differences… nobody notices in France…
I don’t know why, but I think I’ll prefer Your “farm-boy” Apache.
Would like to get a photo of him to see the difference. Regards – S
He is not quite as pretty..
But we love him anyway!
I too would love to see a photograph of Apache. He sounds wonderful…a true and beloved dog!
There was no doubt he was guarding the Chanel bag Vicki………he was funny to watch, but the owner even more so if you remember. The fun of shopping in Paris, dogs and all. Daisy would love it there and I would bring her everywhere. She could guard my “Zara” buys! xx
She would be exhausted!!
The whole picture does look like some glam ad V. The tutu on her tush made me LOL! I have a patient pup in Paris on my blog today, but not quite so put together!
Bon weekend dear,
V
She was very well put together!
Oh dear Vicki!! This is wonderful!
xxGreet
Only in Paris…
Les chiens de Paris – the utimate haute accessory.
Yes… such a French accessory…
What grand photos + adore that doggie! xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
She looks so poised and confident in her darling little coat!! What a fun little darling to take shoe shopping. And the bag…just laying there! Perfect!
Adorable and adored always made welcome at Le Bon Marche!
After many visits to Paris, I only visited LBM for the first time in July and loved it’s beautiful understated elegance.
Parisians have a lot to thank Gustav Eiffel for!
hugs

I think you’re right. This is just too much to take in! Again, your ability to capture little moments like this is incredible.
I would have been tempted to put that little pup in my handbag and walk out with her! What an accessory. How adorable!
Have a lovely weekend, Vicki.
I would not have liked to take on her owner… she was ‘formidable’…:)
Oh I just love this Vicki and I’ve never had a dog and never thought those little carrying ones were silly, but this elegant chien has changed all that. She seems to project a ladylike life of her owner, and can’t you see them getting into a taxi to meet their friends for lunch after the business in done? Or doesn’t the Bon Marche have a great spot for lunch?
That is beyond adorable!
Hi Vicki
I’m afraid I don’t like this. This is unfair treatment of animals. It is a dog and it was born with a coat. This is sad.
Have a glorious weekend running through fields with you large dog and make sure he kicks up lots of mud
Helen xx
Hello Vicki; thanks for bringing us with you on your travels. I have hopes of winning a chemise, they look gorgeous. Thanks for all the time you put into this blog, it’s really inspiring. Noelle
This is exactly what I miss about Paris. This is not weird behavior it is part of everyday life there. Such style and tolerance and a love of animals too. Cutie pup had fun. Every girl loves shoes.
I’m with Helen – it’s tragic that humans have come to this…
TOO.
JUST….TOO CUTE.
I have a West Highland Terrier, Chloe, who is a little fashionista like this dog. I dress her up whenever we go out. She has a little wardrobe of cute outfits, and even some coats for winter. She loves the attention she gets and sometimes even chooses her own outfits – I lay them out on the floor, and she walks to the one she wants.
If only Australian quarantine laws were not so strict. Each time we’re been to Paris, hubby and I look at each other and say ‘Chloe would love it here’. I have no doubt she would fit right in.
My gosh, I could learn from her! Isn’t she delightful ~ I’m glad you were there to capture these for us, Vicki. I can appreciate the ‘adorableness’ of such visions, but I’m guessing Apache wouldn’t have his life any other way. Have a lovely weekend with your beautiful big muddy guy. {PS: I’m a bit besotted with pugs myself. My gorgeous cat Ella would not cope, otherwise she could well have a black pug as a brother.}
My little Mikey is also exceptionally glam…and he loves it. The more the better in his opinion. How do I know this? The extra shine in his eyes…the more than usual wags of his tail…the upbeat trot in his little bod. He is wondering also…where he could ever meet such a delightful creature. There is’nt a lot of doggy glam going on here in Perth Western Australia. And he would think it were heaven to be able to accommpany me shopping. Dogs are banned everywhere here of course. Think there’s room for us in Paris Vicki? Thanks for the smile on our dials
xx Gabi ‘N Mikey
Well,
This post looks like a fashion Magizine for Glamor Dogs.
So cute. A very savy looking dog and well behaved.
Have a great weekend.
Enjoy the Fall Winter is at the door.

The puppy is so cute. I can’t imagine going into David Jones and seeing cute little dogs all dressed up with diamond leashes. Maybe in the Chanel and Dior shops. Lay down “Glam” mummy will be back soon.
Ohhh….what a darling and so beautifully frocked up for a day of shopping! x
I love Le Bon Marché! I could spend hours and hours in the food hall and then hours and hours more in the lingerie department. My very best and favourite lingerie is a splurge I bought myself there a few years back.
Just gorgeous!
