Christmas In Provence… Joyeuses Fetes

December 30, 2012

The Christmas tree is sparkling

The red berry wreath is in place

The shadows cast long over the farmhouse… like long protective arms, they hug our home for Christmas …

The morning mists envelop the garden and muffle any sounds

The Persimmons are ripe and ready for picking

And the ruby red amaryllis are in place for Christmas Day

The decorations are on the tree… every last one, every much loved bauble… new and old

The hyacinths are potted and the hellebores are blooming

Presents are wrapped and the candles are ready to be lit

Garlands are hung… and the tulips are opening

Joyeuses Fêtes…

I would like to say a very heartfelt thank you for your company this year. You are the kindest and most generous readers and your loyalty is so very appreciated. Every moment in our busy lives is precious and I am so grateful for the time we spend together… French Essence is my passion.. and my love of all things French only burns brighter… I know that it is your enthusiasm and shared devotion to France that makes this happen…

I wish you all a very merry Christmas,  and a stunning New Year… good health, happiness… and joy… lots and lots of joy…

Much love to you all, Vicki

OHHH, How beautiful are your black & white photos !… each telling a story…. each being being a post card in its own right…each telling us the love you put in your home…
I never heard of persimons until i moved to Australia in Terrey Hills, they were growing in our garden, i picked one fruit and with gourmandise bit into it ….how bitter that skin was.. i never have since even tried another one and was astonished to discover them in Provence, I always thought they were an australian fruit…. where do they come from?

  • A very Happy Christmas! I rarely see Christmas scenes in black and white, and found it to be quite striking!

May you have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

    – Holly

  • Dear Vicki, it has been a joy to read your books, find you online and have real conversations and meet so many other lovely people here.
Your photos of a Provence Christmas look so inviting – what a treasure to enjoy – perhaps a book in it?
Anyway – you wouldn’t want to be here in Western Australia – we have a week of 40 degree heat coming up – remember the Australian Christmas – phew … doesn’t quite work with the romantic idea of a white Christmas we see in the magazines … but maybe one day.
Thank you for being an inspiration to me – and for taking a dream and running with it.
    Blessings to your family xx

    • Vicki says:

      And to yours, Vicki…
I do remember ( and miss) my Aussie Christmas celebrations.. although I don’t think I miss 40 degrees..:) Good luck and try and stay cool.. A cold lunch I presume?? :)
      Happy Christmas… xv

Another cracker year here at FE Vicki – you deserve a well-earned break, so go enjoy it with your mob. It was the Boxing Day Test Match at the MCG today – tell David that the local Aussie larrikins in the crowd truly out did themselves with their costumes & antics. Just when you think they couldn’t get anymore feral, they take it to the next level! Gotta love an Aussie bloke dressed as a bride complete with flowing veil & a beer in both hands!
