Paris Inspired… Decorating The Tree…

This Christmas I am infatuated with red… I blame it on Paris…

Red decorations… I am crazy for them…

I have been looking for them everywhere… I have found them in Paris, in London and online…

These lovelies I photographed at Le Bon Marché… they were mad for red too…

Next week I will be decorating with red… all the old and all the new…

A little late, but I like to leave the best until last…

I am going to mix the red with silver, with white and with clear glass…

I have a feeling these baubles will make a pretty mix…

What about you? Will you go ‘red’ with me?… xv

And you know, I was never, ever a fan of red. In fact, I had always detested it! Being of an artistic bent, I guess red was too shocking for me, HOWEVER…..since blogging (seeing all the possibilities in a creative venue) and this year, I am loving RED too, Vicki! I especially enjoy it now coupled with aqua. But then again, Paris can make anything look brand new to the eyes….Anita

Love it with aqua! Do not tempt me…:)

      • Red and aqua is a phenomenal combo. Do you remember the season (ok, many many years ago) where Gianni Versace made his season around it? I remember an awesome ad series shot by Avedon!

Won’t be joining you in the red this year, save on nails and lips. Just did fingertips in Leading Lady by Essie–yes, that crazy one with the sparkles!!!

  2. These look just scrumptious enough to eat don’t they! Yes, I can see myself falling for red. Have already done the blue and silver christmas, but you have me already thinking about next year! All the best, Jennifer x

I love those cross stitch baubles!

  4. I love all of the red and white…so festive! I agree they look good enough to eat…and just make me hum Christmas songs!!

  5. LA Brown says:

Love the photos of red ornaments! Will rethink “red” for Christmas this year!

  6. Leslie says:

So pretty Vicki.. The ornaments at the top look like they are covered in sugar! My “family” tree is just that.. it’s a mix of things. If I had the time and space, I’d like to go with different colored/themed trees. It’s fun to change things up and add pops of color isn’t it? Red and green, silver and gold.. love the combinations.

Hope you are enjoying the festivities of the season.

  7. Nothing says Christmas like “red”! I wore a red scarf just yesterday to celebrate the festive season.

  8. Linda says:

My tree is all red, after Christmas, I buy up every RED ornament on sale!

  9. Oh dear Vicki, seeing this red here, I am sure I will use red for my Christmas decorations next year! This year I have chosen for a more sober and simple decoration.
    Beautiful pictures! Thank you!

I’m with you on the red, Vicki. I even used it for the first time in decorating my apartment (long before Christmas). Red and aqua for summer and I’m using green too for Christmas (I know, so predictable). Thanks for all the pretty pictures.

  11. We put up a Christmas tree outside in the garden, which we can see from most rooms in the house…it’s done in red with little white twinkling lights, about 2000 of them. Big wide red ribbons and topped with bright red sprays of cranberry. Merry Christmas, Vicki !

  12. Amy Kortuem says:

I’m looking at all your beautiful ideas here and absolutely grieving the fact that I can’t have a Christmas tree anymore – for some reason, my cats think it’s “nature” and pee under it! For four years in a row!

I gave up this year and hung fresh garland across my entire front bay window – it’s gorgeous. I only decorated it with some lush velvet ribbons and some lights. But next year, I may add some ornaments to spice things up a little bit…

  13. So pretty and festive, Vicki! I’m sure the red will be gorgeous in your home. Lots of red out our house, I love how bright and festive it is! XO

I went mostly for silver this year, but because I have so much red had to include it,but kept it in seperate rooms. Your baubles and stars are just gorgeous. Can’t wait to see it altogether. xx

  20. Karen in CT says:

… I saw on Pinterest the most fabulous tree with just red ornaments .. I’ve been thinking about next year. There is NOTHING like red stripe ones to really put a zip in the overall appearance.

    Merry Christmas

  21. Vicki-
I love red, and these ornaments are fabulous. The birds are perfect little creatures. I hope that you share pictures when you finish.
    Happy Wednesday.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I’ve done my tree this year in red, silver, white, and clear! I love it so much! It looks awesome!

  23. Karen says:

I love red in my salon with sage green! My first Christmas in Provence and my tree is all red and gold. Door is pine and red berries with red and green ribbons and some interesting long red thin sticks I found on my daily walk. Teaching a class that is all Christmas desserts in red and white and green! Rouge, Red, no matter how you say it, its simply great all year long but especially at Christmas!

It’s been years since I’ve had a tree, if I ever do one again, it would be all red! Thanks for the inspiration.

  28. Kaaren says:

You just have to love RED! Living in Oz is so so different but we still have our Xmas trees all the way from Victoria up to Queensland. We had a gorgeous back backer all the way from Germany help us put it in our car last Saturday . He was amazed at what we do here especially when it is 34degrees. The tree is a real indulgence but We love the smell Merry Xmas Vicki
Thank you for your enthusiasm and just like you I love this time of year.
