Cobalt blue is back in the game… thank goodness… A brilliant colour to perk up the drab shades of winter… Cobalt is one of those colours that suits most people… and most colourings… if you are a redhead it is your best friend… if you are a blonde it most likely does wonders for your eyes… and if you are going grey gracefully… it is a total winner… but if you have the luck to be raven haired… well the pleasure is all yours…
I am going to be accessorising with cobalt blue in the coming months… a tee-shirt.. a silk blouse with my jeans…. or at the very least a pair of drop earrings… and if I really lose all self control… a pair of those ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ Manolos… She may have stumbled over romance but she sure did know her shoes… The ever beautiful Olivia Palermo wears these beauties with everything… and that girl never gets it wrong…

Wonderful for accessories. Maybe a handbag for extra power. A little tricky as dress, I have to get in shape first. The color does not forgive an extra pound. xoS
I am also tempted by the blouse or the tee shirt… even the pashmina… just a touch to make the statement…
There is too much temptation for me on this page. As a very pale skinned person I’ve always gravitated towards this blue. Just love it. Warm regards.
There are so many wonderful handbags around in that cobalt blue… but these were my favourites…:)
What about me preparing this….:)
You should see my shopping cart!
Fabulous colour!!! Love it.
Maybe it’s the new black??
Dear Vicki,
It is one of my favorite colors. I’ve been wearing it forever. I have the most divine YSL pea coat in cobalt blue. Since black predominates chez moi, the cobalt changes everything. Also have scarves that incorporate it. Love it with navy and other blues as well.
Also had a great bag for years, but it literally had to be tossed. I’m considering having my brilliant shoe man dye a pair of my gazillion ballerinas in cobalt. And, at some point I think I’ll start looking for a bag again. (As you know, I would NEVER wear bag and shoes together. . .)
xoxo,
Tish
Never!…
I have worn and loved this colour every time it comes back into fashion. As you say Vicki it suits everyone. Since I have had my hair every colour under the sun I know this to be true!
You and me both …:)
Oh dear, you really know how to pull on my heart strings! If there was ever a color that the FRENCH are faithful to, it is BLUE! This hue is one of my favorite and every image you have here is perfect. Thank you Vicki for coming to visit me; I have to run off to teach a FIRST GRADE French class! BISOUS, Anita
Perhaps for the French it’s a patriotic choice Anita… the blue, red and white…
But I agree… they do love it… xv
I love this color and the choices of parts are simply beautiful, elegant and refined. super good taste! Congratulations!
Thank you… they are indeed a big temptation…:)
Hmm…I never saw this on the streets of Paris.
So much is promoted by the mags and stores but never becomes a real trend IMHO
Pretty though…
Perhaps when it’s warmer…
I think Pantone got it wrong – well not wrong, just late to the game. I saw emerald everywhere last year but blue is the name of the game this year! In fashion and interiors, it is ruling the roost!! Like Tish, I also have a YSL black trimmed cobalt jacket and I own almost the same Miguel Ases earrings which I wore all summer long. Just love that blue is back!
I do love emerald but I think it’s harder to wear all the time… blue is such an easy accessory…
I have been admiring some beautiful blues…..I think I need some new blues.
pve
I certainly do, Patricia…
Not a big fan of most blues but cobalt for me equals elegance…..and “Carrie’s” shoes…..in a heart beat!
They are sensational… aren’t they? I would wear them with everything… all day, every day…
Oh, I love this color! Used to have several cobalt blue items, but not recently. After seeing this, I definitely need to add it back to my wardrobe. I’m a blonde, and it does bring out my blue eyes. (I love the pics of Ginnifer Goodwin and the model on the bench the most!)
They are very pretty shots… I am also hoping that a little cobalt will brighten my eyes…:)
…looking for cobalt shoes now!
Be careful… there are some very pretty ones..:) J Crew are doing a fabulous stiletto… not too high…
I must have some kind of intuition I have ease into Midnight navy accessories this winter…..this winter I guess these are great examples of the next step! Don’t think I’ll do the hair though although she looks good it it.I will say this, at the prete a porter show Who’s Next, one designer did loads of blues and mixed with gray and it all looked great!Maryannexo
Yes I think I will leave the colourful hair to Katy Perry…;)
Lovely layout, love the cobalt!
Thank you Rachel… it took me a while… but I am getting better at it… I love seeing what the celebs are wearing and then trying to find choices that we might find inspirational…
Love, love, love cobalt blue. But then, blues were always my downfall. I’m so glad there are more of them to choose from this season. Your picks are wonderful!
Thank you Lorrie… I must admit to enjoying the picking…;)
Since I am a redhead, have loved this color for years. Have a wonderful coat from VW that I love. Your choices are food for thought. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
Peggy… I am sure you look ravishing in this colour…
A GREAT color – love the earrings! I get to look at this color in the water too (Mediterranean Sea) – lovely.
A cobalt view… food for the soul…
I’d already thought about investing in just a couple of accessories in this stunning shade and then I spotted this lovely post. It’s not a colour I currently have in my wardrobe but I know I soon will have – maybe a pashmina to begin with and then who knows! Your choices are so varied and the Manolos are wonderful….the blazer and topcoat too.
I love the topcoat too… and as for those shoes… I can say no more…
I hadn’t really thought of wearing this colour blue, but shall now give it some thought! LOVE the Roland Mouret and Marlene Birger dresses……..x
The Marlene Birger dress is stunning and very tempting… The RM is superb… but I like the price of the Marlene Birger one much more..:)
love cobalt blue!
Oh Wow! What a great collection you’ve pulled together. Last month I bought a gorgeous Oscar wool fitted dress in cobalt (on sale thank goodness) and I also love the YSL bag esp. because it isn’t obvious but the design is perfect.
You could really do damage to my wallet but thankfully the blog is so pretty I can look and be happy!
Looking is 9/10 of the fun Hallie…
Thanks for that Vicki – that is my favourite colour – alot of my wardrobe is Corbalt blue or Electric Blue as I call it. It is a good combination with my black wardrobe formal pieces. I am glad it’s back!
Jenny
Cobalt is fantastic with black… I agree…
I bought a draped Ralph Lauren dress in cobalt blue as my mother of the groom outfit. it was super comfortable and the color was very flattering.
you won’t believe this I drove Renee crazy to buy
a sweater this color, she looked gorgeous in this blue.
I have a few items myself. Great color..
Love the post. yvonne
Not yet, but I think I will be. It just looks so fresh after all the stuff that’s been about the traps lately x
Yes… exactly… As I got dressed this morning… i thought… I need a dash of that cobalt… NOW…
It is a lovely color
and would look really good with a statement necklace and other accessories.
Love the leather jacket and the bag.
That leather jacket is stunning isn’t it? .. And the bag… **sigh**…
A cobalt blue cashmere scarf or a feminine dress or a pair of pumps, I would love to wear any of these. It’s a colour that makes quite a statement. Beautiful picks!
Ada
Just a touch can really update and liven a plain-ish outfit… The scarf would be a greta addition to my wardrobe…
Just a touch can really update and liven a plain-ish outfit… The scarf would be a great addition to my wardrobe…
totallyyyyy lusting over cobalt blue lately!! it seems to just go with every single color out there, oddly enough!!
xo,Taylor
It is everywhere… a great change from all the grey I have been wearing…:)
Oh, cobalt blue. I grew up in the 80s. I had an outfit that was a cobalt blue long skirt, long cobalt blue sweater, matching cobalt blue pointy-toe flats and a cobalt blue felt hat to go with…you guessed it..a wool coat with cobalt blue in it.
So no. Not going to do cobalt blue this time around! I got my fill back then…
It sounds like you did have it all Amy…:)
A beautiful, mesmerizing color, dear Vicki!
Reminds me of the ocean depths and the late evening sky…
I adore this color…especially lapis jewelry and blue glass…
Hope you are having une semaine magnifique!
xoxo,
- Irina
Lapis jewellery is a favourite too Irina… xv
That is such a stunning colour Vicki. Trouble is, it used to be my school uniform colour ( well, similar !!) so, even though that was decades ago, I tend to avoid it. Maybe I should start with a few bangles, a scarf or shoes to ease me into it !!!! XXXX
It would suit you so well Jackie… try… you will see…
No. It is too cold for me.
Absolutely my favourite colour – the main accent colour in my wardrobe. I have a favourite cobalt sheer shirt, which I bought in a chain store. I pair it with a couple of pairs of coloured Reiko pants that I bought in St Tropez and it looks sweet. It never fails to amaze me that people often comment on my lovely shirt, not the gorgeous pants. A bit of chain store chic working wonders but its truly down to my cobalt blue shirt. My favorite shoes?.. Cobalt blue ballerina flats….
Fabulous picks, Vicki! This is one of my favorite colors to wear and, while I have both a cobalt blouse and sweater that I love, those dresses you featured are just to die for!
Cobalt blue always draws my eye. Love the leather jacket, Roland Mouret dress, and rhinestone-toe shoes.
Gorgeous collages, Vicki! Thank you for inspiring me today.
