Denim… double or nothing… seems to be the way to wear it right now. I’m happy with that… as long as the denims contrast…
As for the revival of the jeans jacket… I am loving that…a jean jacket can be worn with everything… and is the perfect piece to wear with layers… longer shirts… longer tees… under another coat…
that’s what all the fashionistas are doing…

1. J. Crew Nolita Jacket 2. J.Brand Jacket 3. Current Elliot Denim Shirt 4. Madewell Denim Shirt
Boyfriend Jeans (if you don’t already have some)
For those gorgeous red lips to work with the denim… Hourglass Opaque Rouge… it is…
I have always been a denim fan… it’s an easy wear… a no brainer… when choice is the last thing you want… it’s season-less… the ideal travel companion… comfortable… and these days denim takes you anywhere… dressed up… dressed down… Wear denims with loafers… spruce it up with Manolos… or kick back in Converse… it’s all good…
Yes… I am doubling up… xv

I love the denim on denim style
so chic and just put on some accessories
and you will look so fab.
The accessories are always the changing point aren’t they?
Im a little afraid of looking “Shawshank Redemption”
You did make me laugh… actually I still am…
I don’t think we will… at least I hope not…
That’s hilarious!
I totally agree. I love to create new looks with my jewelry and scarves.
Denim never goes out of style for me. I just feel comfortable in it – always have.
I have always been a denim fan. As you say, so easy and can be dressed up or down and any season. The outfit in the first photo is perfect but it takes time to get just the right contrast. I’m looking forward to experimenting with my now faded Levi’s jacket this summer!
I’m sure it will never go in the charity bag!
I wish I still had mine…:(
I have always worn my darker denim jacket, just love it. I haven’t worn denim with denim since the 80′s! I really like that middle, bottom shot though…especially for a market trip.
Have a great weekend.
Ness xx
Maybe you will now , Ness…:)
I think it’s here to stay. Love denim skirts.
yvonne
I remember my denim skirts from way back… I wish I still had all of my pieces… it just shows we should save everything…:)
I LOVE a denim jacket Vicki but, I can never seem to get the perfect pair of jeans….. I’m still looking !!
It’s so funny how things turn around in fashion ….. it was only a few years ago thet we were told NEVER to wear denim top and bottom !! haha XXXX
Have a look at J Brands, Jackie… they are my favourites…:)
One thing I know about fashion is that it’s always contradictory!
Me too. All of the brands you featured here are my favourites. I love all of the blues and denim. Happy Friday Vicki!
Thanks Pamela… I love the shirts… and the jackets… there is always something to tempt me, I am afraid…:)
Good morning dear Vicki!
Here we are, buried in snow. We are currently under a snow storm and I can hear my neighbor gratting his shovel through the hard and icy snow. I guess I will be going out there later today to do the same.
I have that EXACT little denim jacket on the left. It has served me well for years and the beauty of it all is that it never goes out of style! I love to wear it during our cool spring months with a black turtleneck underneath and a cute skirt and boots. I also enjoy wearing BOYFRIEND jeans with heels! My latest crush is a long sleeved white shirt cuffed up to my elbows, jeans and a simple pair of mules. Oh the fun!
Thank you dear one for coming to visit me. My original plan was to fly off to California to see family, but as of last night, I had to cancel my flight. I will however, still be taking a break from writing any posts, but will enjoy visiting.
Thank you for coming to see me. Anita
Love the boyfriends with the mules Anita… and the white shirt is always the best…
Have a wonderful break… even with the snow…
Gosh, I’ve got a sweet Zara denim shirt that I almost never wear because of the jeans/jeans thing but I love the first photo and am going to give it a try with my leather jacket.
You must… it will look fab…
Can’t wait until it’s Spring so I can wear my denim jackets layered over a T-shirt!
Spring needs to come and shortly! Denim here we come…
Years ago when I did double denim my daughter aka The Fashion Police admonished me and said No Mom!
I am happy that this is the new now trend as I love my boyfriend jeans and have a fabulous RL denim shirt.
These fresh young faces are so gorgeous and energetic looking.
I hope that you are keeping well Vicki.
Have a great weekend.
Love how our daughters are the fashion police! You have given me a great idea for a post…
Enjoy your denim without question…
Thanks for trip back in time! A friend of mine seems to save all of her clothes, well the favorites anyway, so she’s ready when the trends inevitably come back around. I wonder if it’s too late to start…? Bon week-end! x Katie
Never too late Katie…
Love denim jackets! Wish I had kept mine…….time for another I think!
Sophia
Yes, definitely…
You know I’m not a jeans girl, but the classic jeans jacket…oh, yes! It’s also Houston Livestock & Rodeo time around here, which goes on for 3 wild weeks, and we will be seeing many iterations of jeans from the young girls to the older girls. I must take some pics this year so I can show everyone. Have a lovely weekend, Vicki!
I’d like to see those Marsha…
“when choice is the last thing you want” is a perfect description of denim! I may do denim with chambray but to combine two denims they would need to not only contrast in colour…but fabric weight. I adore a very soft denim jacket with a touch of stretch for comfort and drape. With red lipstick, perfect. Now where did I store that perfect little denim jacket…? I agree, we should hold on to all those quintessential pieces in our wardrobes forever.
Have a great day,
Jennifer
Yes I agree Jennifer.. it’s all about the fabric and the colours… I so wish I still had mine ( or would that be plural..
how many times have these been in…)
Love denim and there’s that BIKERS jacket again!I better go try the ITALIANS husband’s NOW!
Yes Elizabeth… that biker jacket is certainly a must…
I have that EXACT little denim jacket on the left, love it! thought demin with demin was a no no. Now I will try it. I wear the jacket with a white blouse + cords + pumps or buttoned up with white color & cuffs peaking out as a shirt on cold days in S. CA. with a vest over the jacket. Those jackets can’t be beat. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
Love the layering idea Peggy… a vest over a denim jacket is super chic…
I love denim, always have. I have 2 jean jackets, one which is over 20 years old. Probably not stylish enough but certainly faded the natural way. Thanks, Vicki for this fun post!
I am sure it is absolutely great… and the truly aged look is the best…
…I guess I better pull out my old jeans jacket. I am pretty good at editing my closet but for some reason I was never able to give this away. Come to think of it I have a vest too.
The vest is all around too… so you are lucky to be … ready, set, go…
.. I have never been a fan of denim, but not sure why. I would rather put on the Audrey Hepburn black pants and white Tee … somehow I could never see Audrey in denim, and she was my style icon as a young teen. Some things just never leave you, I guess. I have a red denim jacket, does that count?
Karen in CT
Absolutely…
That extra 5 (Ok ….10) lbs. has put my lovely jeans into reserve for a few more weeks. And I miss them! I would much rather put on a pair of jeans, my oxfords or boots, a great shirt or sweater and life is easy and good, and comfortable. I love denim jackets with long skirts, denim shirts with white jeans……….I think I am having some memorable flashbacks with all this talk of denim. At my age, I have done it all! But totally interested in doing it again if I can get away with it.
Much love xxx
You can… definitely…
Remember when I told you about my all-cobalt blue get-up from the 80s? yeah…that’s what denim on denim reminds me of, too. Sorry – just can’t do it this time around!
Never mind Amy… I understand… I feel like that about shoulder pads…;)
I love denim and it has always been a staple fabric here in Texas… so I was really surprised to find out recently that denim actually originated in Nimes, France…! Who would have known that Texas is sooo French…! ~Terri
Jean jackets are back? Thanks for the memo! I have had my share in my lifetime and remember when I wouldn’t even leave the house without one! They can be great looking, but honestly feel past a certain age it just looks like one is trying to hard to be young and hip. I know its probably just me and my uptight ways, but I don’t know I just think it would look silly for a 50 year old in a jean jacket, again just me! But I must say its like walking down memory lane looking at them…all good memories of course:)
What would I do without denim, chere Vicki?!
I love my jeans, and I remember reading that the French woman never goes out in jeans unless they are crisply pressed! I’ve been ironing mine ever since…
Bon Weekend lovely Vicki!
xoxo,
- Irina
I agree Vicki. I adore light/ or mid color denim jacket with black jeans and a tee as well.
xoxo

Damn it vicky !…I oly threw my long denim coat, my denin waistcoats, my denin shirts….only 2 years ago when pcking up to come to France…..

The denim in the first photo looks very comfortable and soft.

Just as w/the pumps, I’m glad I’ve hung on to my denim jacket from 10 years ago. However, I really, really wish I still had my Levi’s one from high school w/all it’s perfect natural wear and fading – it was pretty much the “uniform” for both girls and guys.
Here in Canada we refer to denim-on-denim as the Canadian tuxedo. A huge ‘no,no’, very farm boy. But denim and white cotton is preferred look.
Here in the desert Southwest this look is everywhere and in all variations. I love to wear my AG BF jeans rolled, my denim red, white and blue wedges (80%20) and my crisp white cotton shirts with a glowing suntan. I have several denim shirts, but really love the one in the bottom photo, with the beauty in the black hat. Does anyone know where to find that cutie? I have been searching online with no luck. Thanks!
