Thought You Might Like To See…

Provence - Vicki Archer

Saturday morning on our way to Arles… it’s market day…

I had to stop…

Like the lavender, sunflowers are a given in Provence…

And yet…

How could I ignore their sweet faces…

Their smiles, their worship of the sun…

They caught my attention…

Good morning Vicki. Provence offers so many sunny memories; the colors that get brighter, the shade that seems richer, is found in Provence for me. Thank you for this happy post today! Anita

Oh yes! I remember that drive and I got out of the car with my granddaughter Jasmin to take pics – and there were three Japanese ladies, tourists, dressed in their elegant clothes and sunhats, giggling among the flowers. We took pics of them too! Those fields, with all the tall sunflowers facing the sun together, were unbelievably beautiful. I hope I can go back some day.

Hugs – have a wonderful week Vicki.

They look like little people – the leaves like arms waving hello and those sunny faces beaming and happy. You really can’t help but smile when you see this image.

  10. Great photo of a true Provencale icon!

  11. Gorgeous – no wonder you couldn’t resist taking a photograph. We have a long patch of mildew folding heavy – headed sunflowers. They look so discouraged! Love your inspiration, vicki!

  12. Does my heart so good! Hope they are still around in September xx Corrina

  13. How Happy!
I have never managed to be there for the sunflowers – sigh.
The poppies and lavender have been a thrill though … you certainly live in a glorious part of the world Vicki.
    Enjoy the sunshine…

  14. Hi Vicki, Their happy faces are making my day. Have a super day at Market.

Buon Giorno Vicki, I have an off-topic question for you.

I follow your blog avidly. I’m an Aussie girl too, considering moving to bel’italia in the next couple of years, after my son finishes school. We’ve begun looking at homes, and have a trip planned to Tuscany & Liguria in September – but all our plans have been shaken by my mothers recent decline in health… and I’m left wondering if we’re doing the right thing.

So my question is this: how do you cope with missing family and loved ones left behind the this land down under? I wondered if you might consider a post about this topic?

I do enjoy your bog – its part of my morning cup of coffee! abbracci Marnie

This is a very timely question for me… and a subject I would enjoy to write about… and I will… but as you already realise Mamie, a move to the other side of the world is not without heartache… xv

      • Margaret S. says:

thanks ever so much Vicki – I’ll watch out for it. Have a lovely day! x
p.s. sorry for my terrible typing errors earlier!

  24. I love that, after all this time, you still stop exactly where the tourists do because you are taken with the simple beauty of it all.

    • Vicki says:

After all this time I still feel very much the visitor, Heather… I don’t think that will ever change and nor do I feel like I will ever become accustomed to the beauty of Provence… Just when I think I have, I surprise myself.. like the lavender and the sunflowers… :)

  25. Catherine says:

    Absolutely breathtaking…beyond GORGEOUS…I love sunflowers…a happy flower ;-)
    Have a wonderful trip.

  26. miss b says:

No wonder you had to stop! There’s so much rich colour in Provence and this is such a wonderful, cheerful photo too. We really must organise a return trip to this amazing area which has so much to offer.
