Diane Von Furstenberg And That Dress

The purchase of my first Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress was a very exciting moment.

When I put it on I immediately understood all the fuss.

It was black, of course, and threading the belt and wrapping it tight made me feel totally fabulous.

Fast forward many years and it is still one of my best dresses.

Diane von Furstenberg is one of those incredible women that has never been out of fashion.

And nor have her dresses.

I admire her philosophy,

“I did not know what I wanted to do, but I knew the kind of woman I wanted to be.

I wanted to be an independent woman, a woman who runs her own life, who’s in charge of her life.”

The wrap dress is one that I have never grown tired of or felt was out of date.

I have worn it with sneakers, with bikers, with heels and with flats.

The wrap dress is the one packed in the suitcase and the when-I-don’t-know-what-to wear choice.

It’s the dress that my daughters borrow and now buy for themsleves.

With Diane Von Furstenberg’s, The Woman I wanted To Be and The Journey Of  A Dress release,

I thought it time to wrap up again… xv

the woman i wanted to be by diane von furstenberg

“In The Woman I Wanted to Be, von Furstenberg reflects on her extraordinary life—from childhood in Brussels to her days as a young, jet-set princess, to creating the dress that came to symbolize independence and power for an entire generation of women. With remarkable honesty and wisdom, von Furstenberg mines the rich territory of what it means to be a woman. She opens up about her family and career, overcoming cancer, building a global brand, and devoting herself to empowering other women, writing, “I want every woman to know that she can be the woman she wants to be.”
