Happy Black Friday.
Black Friday is a gift if you are in the mood to shop and you know where to look.
Sales and I are getting along better together as I get older. We understand each other more which comes from rubbing shoulders over the years. Once upon a time I did everything “wrong” when it came to the sales. I bought not only what I didn’t need and didn’t particularly love but also what was hardly a good fit. The lure of the save reeled me in and threw me back in a very unforgiving manner.
Now I am strict when it comes to sales purchases.
I plan before I buy, I choose the familiar and I seek out the classic.
The sales this year are bigger and better than ever. They are generous, across the board and full of extremely useful additions to the wardrobe.
I am sticking with my traditional sales shopping strategies but also working on the principal to, “Wear Chanel without wearing Chanel.” In other words, I am trying to achieve the look for less; stick with the classics but not necessarily feel obliged to pay the tops for them.
With a clever search and a timely curation we can have it all. Or at least we can have a pretty slice.
Putting a signature look together is not only about the spend but also about the search.
This time of year with Black Friday and Cyber Monday as our playgrounds we can really make some great purchases. It is the time to buy those items we might not necessarily be able to afford at full price and to replace those essentials in our wardrobe we know we will always have a reason to wear.
What is missing from my wardrobe is an elegant and more dressy style of coat. I seem to wear my military style parka constantly; I absolutely love it but it is not ideal 24/7. I would like a comfortable style to double up for casual and dressy occasions.
So that brings me to this Happy Black Friday edit; I am going formal with a selection of delicious coats and a few beautiful velvets all at greatly reduced prices. Happy browsing, xv.
