The 3 Best “Cover-Ups”

The 3 Best “Cover-Ups”

Holiday season has officially started.

So have my tired eyes and dark circles.

I am already searching for the concealer and working on a cover-up.

I know I should be managing my sleeping better and living life in moderation; it is a festive time and if a few dark eyes are the price then I will happily pay it.

Adding Shine And Volume

Adding Shine And Volume

Adding shine and volume to hair is something most of us try on a daily basis.

It is much harder to pump up the volume if hair is fine and straggly.

The truth is a good hair day changes the way we feel and think about ourselves and gives us an extra dose of self-confidence. I know when my hair is looking its best I feel like a different person, especially now I have given up colour in favour of the greys.

As I age I feel more and more certain that beautiful, healthy and well styled hair is one of the best beauty secrets of all.

Less Is More: The Truth About Make-Up

Less Is More: The Truth About Make-Up

Less is more with make-up.

I am finding this to be the case more and more.

It’s the ageing process that is causing the conundrum. There is no denying my face requires some different attention now.

I am happy with the ageing process, I do think I have come to terms with that, but I get nervous about make-up and the application of it.

Eyes Wide Open: The Feline Flick

Eyes Wide Open: The Feline Flick

The feline flick; I’m in.

Do you ever have those days (read months) where you and the art of make-up part ways?

Where the idea of taking the time to go the extra yards is all too hard? A slash of lips and a splash of fragrance is all the enthusiasm you can muster?

The thought of concentrating, looking in a magnifying mirror and artfully applying a fabulous product is just simply, too daunting?

Thoughts of, “what if it smudges”, “will it run” or “is this ridiculous” dominate and prevent experimentation and adventure?

Do you recognise my mood?

Q & A: The 3 Top Serums?

Q & A: The 3 Top Serums?

If you ask, I will answer.

Today in a new series of Q&A, serums are the talk.

I have been asked recently which serums I prefer and why.

Serum is one of the key ingredients in my very simple beauty routine. Serum is the one product I regularly use and never leave home without.

It works for me.

Current Mood:”Garconne”

Current Mood:”Garconne”

This week’s mood has been in tune with, Garconne.

I have mentioned before my daughter Venetia has started a beauty booking app in London, a concierge service for beauty treatments both at home and in salons.

Ruuby makes it so easy to arrange all things beauty and as the mother I am very lucky to be spoilt.

No complaints from me.

The Finishing Touch: Ready, Set And Puff

The Finishing Touch: Ready, Set And Puff

There is a finishing touch I can’t do without.

Can you guess? It’s powder.

I need a puff to not only feel made-up and ready to go but also to maintain my make-up during the day and evening.

Powder in the most part is essential but finding the right one can be downright hazardous.

Powder can be perilous.

Raspberry: With A “P”

Raspberry: With A “P”

Raspberry, with a “p”.

I have always found raspberry to be one of those very lovely words.

Albeit a word with a strange spelling.

What is the “p” all about?
There is nothing “rasping” about raspberry.

Raspberry denotes everything luscious and delicious.
A word to conjure up goodness and pleasure in every which way. Whether raspberry is a taste, a touch or a vision, all in all raspberry is one potent word.

Leonor Greyl: In Her Routine

Leonor Greyl: In Her Routine

Hair care is very much in her routine.

Mine at least.

Since changing my hair colour and letting nature take it’s course (I never thought I would be that girl) I am far more aware of how it looks.

I tortured my hair forever, have tried most shades and loved a visit to the hairdresser more than anything; a colour and cut was a favourite pastime.

With the amount of stress I have given my hair it’s surprising I have any left.

Now my focus is on the shade of grey and the condition.

Beauty Drama At the Airport

Beauty Drama At the Airport

How could there possibly be a beauty drama at the airport?

Well, I had one.

So it was definitely not life altering or life threatening and a very tiny drama in the scheme of life but it could have ended badly; I might have been a very unhappy traveller.

Let’s back up a bit.

Barbra Streisand: Another Beautiful Face

Barbra Streisand: Another Beautiful Face

Barbara Streisand is another beautiful face.

I am a long time admirer of this fabulous looking woman. She is talented, super successful and I believe a woman who has aged incredibly well. Streisand has managed to retain her own signature style forever.

Ever since Funny Girl, Hello Dolly and What’s Up Doc not to mention The Way We Were (that must be the all time best chick flick ever) I have watched her movies. I realise it is her singing voice, her enormous talent with the vocals where Barbra Streisand’s fame lies, but I enjoy her movies. Two of my favourites, the less well known Prince of Tides and The Mirror Has Two Faces are worth a watch if you have not already seen them.

Legendary Lashes

Legendary Lashes

Legendary lashes?

I had them last year for a short time but they were extensions.

Have you tried extended lashes?

I loved them. The lashes worked for me for some months; they looked natural and I could wake up each morning and do my eye make-up in seconds.

A quick flick with the pencil and they were done.

They lasted for nearly two months before looking patchy and then a lash refill gave me another month.

The Queen, Her Majesty Elizabeth II: Another Beautiful Face

The Queen, Her Majesty Elizabeth II: Another Beautiful Face

The Queen of England, her Majesty Elizabeth II has been celebrating her birthday all weekend and the country too.

London has been in full patriotic swing, despite the intermittent storms.

I declare my hand up front; I am a huge fan of the Queen and always have been.

The Queen turned 90 in April and if there is ever an inspiration for older women it is she.
