With Eyes Wide Open

With Eyes Wide Open

Twiggy was the definition of eyes wide open.

My eyes are not quite so wide open or so decorated but that doesn’t mean I don’t depend on a product or two.
au courant.

I wanted to ask you something?

I have this thing about the eyebrows.
I am perfectly content to persevere with the hair growing grey (well almost, I would be fibbing if I didn’t admit to some moments of indecision) but when it comes to my eyebrows that is another story.

I cannot have grey eyebrows.

They are confronting and I am sure they frighten everyone around me if a few sneak out to play. I like the look of silver hair and dark brows; the hair is natural but the eyebrows take work.

An embarrassing admission and I would love to know if you feel the same or I am alone in my eyebrow peculiarity.

Question: How To Remove Dark Circles Under The Eyes

Question: How To Remove Dark Circles Under The Eyes

“Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes.” Sophia Loren

Dark circles are my friends but they aren’t my friends; if you see what I mean.

We are so familiar with each other and comfortable in each other’s company and yet the acquaintance is not doing me any favours. I look tired even when I am not feeling tired.

I really want to cut ties but we seem to wake up together every morning.

Finding Your Perfect Foundation

Finding Your Perfect Foundation

Is there such a thing as the perfect foundation?

Foundation is one of those products that can totally confuse. Frequently, new and improved products are launched that promise to add glow, reduce fine lines and make us look that much better.

Eyeshadow, The Quick, Easy And No Crease Way

Eyeshadow, The Quick, Easy And No Crease Way

Eyeshadow, the “no crease” way is the only way.

I am a little afraid of eyeshadow, it is one of those highly tempting prospects that can go horribly wrong. Full of promise, but eyeshadow if applied badly can be disasterous. Creases in the eye sockets or unintentional smudging underneath the eyes is not a great look.

I am all for adventure but not with eyeshadow.

The Best Kept Beauty Secrets #10

The Best Kept Beauty Secrets #10

Another best kept beauty secret: authenticity.

Authenticity is a curious concept. I am not entirely sure how to describe, explain or analyse authenticity but I do believe it is very apparent when we witness it first hand.

When I imagine that someone is authentic, I imagine them to be true.

Berry Lipstick Crush

Berry Lipstick Crush

I have a crush on berry lipstick.

A small deviation away from the reds, just as bold only different.

These days the eyes work better with less and the lips are happier with more.

A dark berry lipstick, not too dark but not overly bright, gives the same impact as the right red, only the change in shade makes it feel like a whole new look.

The matte lipstick is always my texture of choice. A matte that isn’t drying but that doesn’t shine and slide.

Know what I mean.

Skincare: Getting Back to Basics

“I want to tell women: Don’t give up on yourself. So you make a mistake here and there, you do too much or you do too little. Just have fun, smile, and keep putting on lipstick.” Diane Keaton

Skincare: Getting Back To Basics

Skincare: Getting Back To Basics

Sometimes the whole skincare conversation can have me completely flummoxed. Know what I mean?

Those emotive words such as anti-aging, free radicals, collagen boost, hyaluronic acid, vitamin c and retin a can leave me confused and uncertain.

The Best Kept Beauty Secrets #9

The Best Kept Beauty Secrets #9

One of the best kept beauty secrets is engagement.

I’m not talking military manouevers or diamond sparklers, but engagement of the mental and emotional kind.

Engagement is all about listening, being interested, participating and actively sharing in what our friends, colleagues and families think and feel.

When someone is captured by what you have to say it is the most flattering of feelings.

For in a way engagement is an art.

The Best New Retinol Creams

The Best New Retinol Creams

Retinol creams, what’s your take on them?

I have periodically tried them over the years but never been as committed as I think I should have been. I rather regret that now as they do seem to make all the difference to the quality and texture of the skin.

A Fresh Start, Starting Over With Skincare

A Fresh Start, Starting Over With Skincare

I dare not admit to the excesses of the holidays, but as I don’t like secrets, I must come clean.

Relaxing the routines, spoiling ourselves and over indulging is not always a bad thing, as long as it has its limits. Enjoying ourselves and throwing caution to the wind can be very therapeutic and I belive that if we don’t treat ourselves from time to time, then life becomes a drudge and so do we.

The new year has well and truly started turning and now is the moment when I am re-thinking my skincare, health and exercise routines.

Starting a new year I have promised myself that skincare is a number one priority.

The London List #Beauty

The London List #Beauty

London as a city gets better and better, for so many reasons.

Samuel Johnson got it right, ” when a man is tired of London he is tired of life.”
I believe him, I am sure it is true. The more I discover, the less I know and the more curious I am becoming.

One of the many wonderful ways to pass the time in London, after the galeries, the historical sites, the museums and hopefully a royal “spot” is to explore the specialist boutiques that are opening up all over town.
