Paris, This Is Where I Am Right Now

Le Bourg Tibourg is a favourite Parisian hotel of mine in the Marais… I love the over the top Jacques Garcia decor. The hotel is small, it’s intimate and it feels like the kind of home I would adore to have but would never be brave enough to live in.

The interiors are busy, they are full and they are puffed. They are colourful and welcoming.
The lighting is soft and the scent of the Costes candles, delicious.

The ambience is delightful.

The spaces might be small but they are cosy and comfortable, never crowded and as for the location, totally wonderful.

Open the door, step out on to the pavement and the pulse of Paris awaits.

The challenge to design small spaces and make them useable, friendly and attractive is what the Bourg Tibourg does so well, every square inch is beautified and useable.

This tiny courtyard with it’s chinese red walls, lush palms, running water and fresh roses is my favourite place to sit, to wait… to stop.

Can you tell I am loving this little sojourn in Paris… xv

So beautiful Vicki! I love the old Marais area of Paris as each turn is like a postcard or a sojourn in the past. I was blessed to be in Paris last year just about this time with my daughter. She and her husband are going soon for their second wedding anniversary. The Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais is also in the area, quaint and full of history. Enjoy! We look forward to more pictures!

I love that you are staying there! I appreciated that the staff was very friendly when I came to poke about and gape at their charming public areas. And I agree, the location is just fantastic!

So happy that you are having such a wonderful time. Please munch a macaron for me! :)

My 15 yr old son is going to Paris in June with his school I can't wait for him to fall in love with all things French. Thanks so much for taking us along with you and taking such lovely photos. Oh, what a jewel box of a place! I'd love to see it in person. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to settle in and make her hotel room un-photograpable! :) xoGigi

I had read about this lovely hotel in an old, old article that I had squirreled away. It truly seems beautiful. Could you be having a girls weekend with 'Carla loves Photography??' Have a great time. Best, Lisa

Your blog has re-inspired me to go to France, especially Paris! I just want to sit in that courtyard with a great book and a cup of tea! When I move to Italy for 6 months next year I shall most definitely be travelling across the Western border more than a few times.

Thanks so much for the inspiration! I shall definitely be returning :) Rhi xx

So happy to see your photos as I've considered staying there the past few trips we've taken to Paris but opted not to in the end.
Enjoy your getaway and happy weekend!

Hi Vicki! Your Paris sojourn looks and sounds wonderful, and I'm loving this peak into Le Bourg Tibourg. Looks so cozy and lovely. We're off to Paris next week, staying at the Hotel Récamier – I've never set eyes on it in person, but have high hopes that it's managed to create well-designed small spaces as well as the Bourg Tibourg has. Enjoy your days in Paris, looking forward to your posts!

It's like you're staying in a jewel box! Lovely. Have a wonderful Parisian weekend. (And if Richard Rodgers says "unphotographable" is a word [My Funny Valentine] then it MUST be a word!)

Now why would I ever stay anywhere else ?
If you love it, we will all love it.
Went to visit both Carla & Jeanne & am now following both.
So happy to see this jewel-box of a hotel, and to know that you guys are having a wonderful time together.

Oh my goodness,

I lived footsteps down from the Bourg Tibourg on a siip of a street called La Rue des Mauvais Garcons.
My sister and her husband stayed at this hotel when they came to visit me there (this was about 11 years ago now!) and I remember loving the intimate Garcia-Goth vibe it gave off.
It also truly sealed my love for Mariage Freres scented candles, which burned there and which I remember distinctly.
I haven't been back to Paris in such a long time, and yet I'm tickled pink to see that the Boug Tibourg is still as it was.
I even remember trying to shop a story about the then-new place out to a few travel and shelter publications, alas to no avail.
Lovely, merci pour les beaux souvenirs Vicki.

I love the ambience of your hotel. So many wonderful places to stay! I am in a hotel over by the Eiffel Tower right now… we are hoping the weather stays dry so that we can go to Montmartre today.
