Party Time: Faux Fur Fantastic

Party Time: Faux Fur Fantastic on vickiarcher.com

Faux fur is fantastic and a whole lot of fun.

I have been impatient to talk faux fur but somehow I hadn’t found the right faux – if you see what I mean.

The idea with faux fur is to make merry and not take it too seriously. Some days are for forgetting the most flattering, the ever slimming, the totally classic and the ever faithful elegant. I’m not saying we should forfeit our style and throw caution to the wind but I do feel a whimsical faux is an excellent addition to the wardrobe.  They are cosy, warm and never mind the wind and the rain and they brush up pretty well after a big day out. What’s not to love?

Faux fur works well for the weekends, with the jeans and sweaters.

Mostly I like it worn with our best. It’s the mixing of the fanciful with the serious that appeals to me. A dazzling topcoat can add the pick-me-up element to an outfit without feeling like an overwhelming choice. Wear it to and fro, around and about; it’s not like the white jacket or velvet tuxedo, those we want to wear all evening long.

The faux fur is a statement oftentimes; It doesn’t have to be but if you are going all out, then it usually is.  The grey, black and cream faux furs are far more practical and wearable, but the colourful coats or the animal prints look seriously wonderful worn over an all-black outfit.

It’s the holidays and I feel like dressing up, inside and out.

Did I mention before I do have a serious love affair with a coat? One of each please. xv

I have the softest white faux fur bolero and I love it. I just may wear that today; it’s a cold one out there!

Loved the leopard faux fur coat!!! But for myself I prefer to wear faux fur as a big scarf, marabou or boa over a plain solid coloured coat or jacket. I have a wonderful Sonia Rykiel marabou in emerald that I just love, but also some in mid blue, deep pink, red, winter white etc. So much fun ringing the changes – and they feel so warm and comforting around the throat in cold weather! I’m sure you will look fabulous Vicki in whatever you choose. I seem to remember a long time ago an amazing winter photo of you on IG wearing a fabulous coat with fur – maybe Faux fur? Best wishes for a Happy Christmas to you and David and your family! Pamela

So exciting to go to Paris for the holidays, I wish you the best of times! I love a faux fur, although here in California it is often still too much coat. But like Pamela, I have a wonderful huge wrap in fur that I love. And that leopard short jacket may be calling my name, it’s fabulous.

Happy Christmas, Vicki, to you and David and you beautiful family (newest member, too!)
