Dress Up In A Dress?
Yes, but which dress. There are so many.
This weekend I am away in France to celebrate a birthday. It will be a weekend of fun and frivolity and I am ready – except I couldn’t decide what to pack. Weekend parties need prep time because once I’m there I am not wasting a second of it. I know it will be very warm in the Toulouse area and I know the days and evenings will be relaxed.
For the “big” night I am re-wearing a white dress I recently bought for another party weekend. It’s easy to wear and needs only a slick of lipstick and these shoes to pull it together. During the day is harder as my normal pants and shirts will be too hot and maybe too “city”. If you know what I mean? The beachwear holiday caftan is too relaxed and the everyday workwear too formal. Hence my dilemma.
The answer?
The linen shirtdress is perfect. I can sneaker it up or add those bow tie mules; bracelets up the arm will finish it off and the little raffia basket bag we talked about the other day.
These two are just right. Especially this one. xv

Brilliant! I love working with a blank or very simple canvas, then adding those tweaks that change the look and feel! Lovely solution, Vicki!
That is a gorgeous dress–the pattern is vague enough that you could wear it again and again without it being THAT dress. And the ties are such subtle interest.
There was a great piece in the New York Times recently about Tiffany Haddish wearing a white dress multiple times, and why it was so refreshing (she loves the dress, bought it herself–not a loaner). It also mentioned Kate Middleton getting attention for rewearing outfits, as if that’s something so odd.
Agree, full marks to Kate for doing so. For so many good reasons. Best wishes, Pamela
