Going, Going Gone: The Importance of Cleansing

Going, Going, Gone: The Importance of Cleansing on vickiarcher.com

Cleansing is probably my most important beauty routine.

A big statement but it is how I feel.

If my face is well cleansed I feel my skin looks brighter and I feel so much better.

Generally, I am religious in my habits and give my face a thorough cleansing morning and night. Travelling can interfere with my routine though and this morning when I looked in the mirror I can see the results. Not so great.

Less clarity, more redness and uneven texture.

I mostly use two products in my routine, although lately, I am trying out a new one.

I have been using the Darphin cleanser since I can remember and the Filorga Foam for a couple of years now. I like the contrast between the textures of the two and the different benefits they bring. The cleansing milk is gentle when my skin feels more sensitive whereas the foam is still light but enriched with hyaluronic acid, an anti-ageing feature. This foaming cleanser does feel incredible to use and does not have the drying feel of many others. Recently I have been using the Sunday Riley as I have heard great things about this product and I do really like the Blue Moon Cleansing Balm. It is gentle but effective and an easy one to use. Now I am alternating with the foaming cleanser and this one.

I always believe it is best for the skin to mix up our products.

Now I am back to reality there are no more excuses. xv

I’m away for six weeks in the summer in St Remy and whilst I bring some products I do like trialling other products and agree Vicki it is good to mix! In many places you can get small sample sizes and the fabulous Pharmacies always have offers on travel sizes products which are again great to trial. I’ve just bought some lovely Nuxe travel products to put away as gifts for Christmas as such good offers! Will definitely look at your other recommendations Vicki.

I love the La Roche Posay duo from the Toleriane line; Purifying Foaming Cleanser and Gentle Hydrating Cleanser. I’m so happy that these products have recently become more widely available in the US. I used to have to go across the river to Canada to get them. When traveling, I carry a few astringent facial wipes and moisturizing wipes as well. I never, ever go to sleep with an uncleansed face. I don’t wear foundation, so everthing shows.

I have not even heard of these two products, but like always Vicki, your recommendations are very alluring, and I need to check these out. Your most convincing testimonial however, is your beauty. When I see photos of you (the most recent one of you in Italy with your hair up) convinced me that in addition to your natural beauty, you have a top-notch beauty routine. You are a stunning woman to begin with, but your skin looks absolutely flawless. Gotta go RUN to find what you are using!

Not really Anita… but thank you!
I do believe cleansing regularly is the answer though… and plenty of hydration… Also sleep, water and a large dose of positivity! That’s what I am writing about today… so back I go to finish!

Just got my Filorga Foam Cleanser and I LOVE it! Thank you so much for the recommendation. The hydration feels so good. I am now looking for a face cream for day. It’s hard to find one with SPF. Thinking I might just have to buy separately. I’ve been using Meaningful Beauty for 10 years and looking for a change. When we go to France in September I’m thinking of not bringing toiletries and going to the pharmacy and just buying all there.
