I have always loved an opaque tight.
Maybe not the candy cane versions above but many other opaques.
There is something reminiscent of school days and the preppy look which is front row this season. Despite the trends, I have always worn them.
Well, what’s not to love?
They are flattering, especially in a black or charcoal shade.
They feel super comfortable if the fit is right and it is always about the fit.
I like them snug with a good elastic waistband so they feel tight and stay firm. Baggy tights work for nobody.
They close the gap and make for a seamless finish between our hemline and shoes. Sometimes it’s an awkward point in fashion and particularly when wearing booties with a skirt or dress.
The layers and textures work beautifully in winter. Think longline midi pleated skirt, topper coat worn over the top and opaque tights with booties. Add a pair with velvet texture or a rib to finesse the deal.
Did I mention warm and cosy?
Sometimes a dress is all that will do and opaque tights make it work on the bleakest days.
Refresh the opaques – the snags and bags won’t do. They are back.
When a beloved trend returns, I am all in. xv
