Say Yes To The Dress: Another Day, Another Dress

Another Day, Another Dress on vickiarcher.com

Another sweater dress.

There are sweater dresses and sweater dresses.

The one I mentioned before is my casual, relaxed go-anywhere style but there are also sweater dresses to dress up. Dresses that are still comfortable and forgiving but sweater dresses with more shape or detail that can work in a far more formal situation.

My first knitted dress was a revelation.

I thought knitted dresses were for other women and I found them somewhat dated and outmoded. I was wrong; they can be seriously fabulous. I invested in a Roksanda last year – more for travel than anywhere else – and found myself wearing it at home more than ever. Crushes are my downfall; when I love something, I love it. Right now I am into dresses so dresses are where my head is. Pants and tailoring will be back, I know that, but I am having a moment for dresses and running with it.

Paris is on my agenda next week and this style of dress will be perfect for meetings and catch-ups. La Maison du Village, our boutique hotel in Saint Remy de Provence, has the sweetest little Diptyque boutique so I am ordering the Christmas selections from their head office. Christmas is a wonderful time in the village with so much atmosphere; I want the boutique to look and feel festive as well as offer Diptyque’s holiday selection.

Packing for Paris is often a challenge, as I don’t like carrying too much with me. I have already decided I will take the two sweater dresses as my main wear and accessorize up with; I’ll probably wear lace-up boots for comfort and to save space in my bag. It is a quick trip and these two styles will work with everything.

The more I travel, the less I pack.

There is a freedom to packing light and this dress is a wonderful addition. xv

Yes to the sweater dress! With a pear-shaped figure, I find a belted waist and flare works best. Great travels, Vicki!

Love the sweater dress in winter, particularly for travelling, but also for comfort.
..Wish I was heading to my beloved Paris next week! Have just returned from my annual sortie
and missing it dreadfully..
Think I may have been French in a past life. Enjoy it as I know you will!

So glad for the resurgence of the sweater dress. I took one on my first trip to Paris in 1961 and was so happy with its comfort and versatility that I wore it almost daily. I spot one in your suggestions that will be perfect for me now.
