I’m starting with the obvious.
A black ankle pant.
I need a new pair and I want them to be tailored with a slightly above ankle length; they need to fit tight but not excruciatingly like a pair of jeans.
They will be for another day and another mood.
The Funny Face, Audrey Hepburn look is one that works for me and I believe most women. The turtleneck sweater, a pair of cropped black pants and a good loafer or ballet flat. What’s not to love? It is a kind of uniform but that’s ok, actually, it’s what makes it a simple and wearable addition to our wardrobes. We make it our own with personality and the flair of a great coat.
Pants are particular.
We have our favourites – those to make us feel taller and slimmer or more curvaceous if that’s the deal. I like to refresh mine most seasons as they work overtime and generally I buy two pairs the same and alternate them as I would for a favourite shoe. I have been wearing a wider leg, the style with a tuxedo stripe, but I need a change and the ankle pant, with the slightly narrower leg is what I am feeling.
Turtlenecks on the way and ankle pants are chosen – now onto the loafers. xv
