There’s one dress I never travel without.
It is a shape and style some women are afraid of but there is no need. This dress can be super flattering and especially if you are curvy. Bias cut and stretch dresses have always featured heavily in my wardrobe and never let me down; even when I have been feeling less than svelte.
The trick is to go for a longer length and let the roundness of the hips be elongated by the hemline. A short stretch dress is not a winner but a midi or above ankle length can have the desired effect. Add a higher neckline and a bit of sleeve for the best silhouette.
I can hear the “it won’t suit me”, “I am too curvy” and ” I’m carrying too many pounds” self-doubters but honestly sometimes playing to these strengths works the best. A feminine line and even a voluptuous body look amazing when celebrated.
The stretch dress is one I pack frequently, especially if I am not entirely sure of where I might end up. I’ve even made do for an impromptu black tie with one similar to this. Heels and drop earrings helped me out.
Yes, it works for many occasions but it is easy and light to pack and looks fine straight out of a cramped suitcase. Packing practically becomes more and more important to me and the idea of a huge amount of baggage does not thrill me. I love planning well and travelling light; a stretch dress is perfect for most trips.
I have found three beauties at different price points but this one and this one are keepers. xv

Oh how I wish I could wear a stretchy dress, Vicki! Not with this bod of mine. But what a great invention for those women who can pull it off! Have a super weekend!
You too, Anita :)
Thanks for the tip!
I too love the idea of this style of dress but do wonder if they highlight the parts I am trying to hide!! Is it all about the foundation wear? I do like the midi length though. I’ve just put a pair of trousers on tonight – first ones since end of July – and, as you say Vicki, it’s now down to some self discipline to remove the little parcel that has
gathered!!!
