Beauty Bible: The Ultimate Pamper Project

The Beauty Bible: The Ultimate Pamper on vickiarcher.com

What’s your ultimate in pampering?

Face Masks are the Sunday and midweek ritual for me. They are the standout product in my skincare regime and anything that can achieve instant results holds the title. Most skincare products work best when used daily but depending on your skin care concerns a mask is best applied once to twice a week. It’s the perfect excuse for a pampering.

Do you ever wonder why there is so much fuss about masks? Other than the delicious fragrance and luxurious textures, why are they so beneficial?

  • * Improves the hydration and as a result plumps the skin. The moisture penetrates deep into the skin’s layers to soften and enhance elasticity.
  • *Reduces the appearance of pores by deep cleansing and clearing dead skin cells that tend to clog your skin’s barrier.

*Encourages time-out and has a significant impact on mental well-being. ‘Me’ time with a facemask, bubble bath and the can’t-put-down book is one of the best therapies around.

Face Masks: The How-To

1. Start With A Blank Canvas

Begin with fresh, clean skin. Make sure all makeup that has accumulated throughout the day has been removed.

  1. 2. Multi-Mask It

Why stop at one? We sometimes wind-down with a cocktail; our skin can benefit from one too. A combination of face masks can really target specific problem areas. An oily t-zone can benefit from a clay mask, to extract the unwanted oils, a moisture mask applied to dehydrated areas, such as the cheeks and under eye area, can rehydrate at the same time.

  1. 3. Don’t Over Do It

Facial masks can produce miraculous results so the temptation is there to overuse them. Overloading the skin can backfire, causing clogged pores and irritation.

I like to make my own mask, which I use twice a week: 1/2 teaspoon each of clay (I use Fuller’s Earth, which I get at an Indian grocery), full-fat organic yogurt, full-fat milk, and raw honey. I put it on in the morning while I’m having some “me” time, checking the interwebs. One doesn’t need to spend loads of money in order to feel “pampered”.

Dear Vicki
I wanted to take a moment and thank you. I enjoy receiving your emails and you have introduced me to lots of greats brands and products. I just ordered the Peter Thomas Roth mask. I have been blessed with great skin but realise at my age greater care is important.
I love your energy and enthusiasm

Hi Vickie
I used to love using Moisturizing masks but since moving to Florida, the air is not so dry .. but I think I will get back into the habit of a mask now and then .. it just feels good :)

I love a good mask and yes, it allows for that “me” time to gather your thoughts and plot and plan! Masks have been part of my routine since I was 15. 45 years worth of proper skin care have made going into 60 not as shocking as it could be!
