Faux fur fabulous.
All these women look pretty fabulous in these fee-fi-faux-fum pieces.
I think I mentioned, I am feeling the need for a little ‘faux fabulous’ in the wardrobe.
It has taken me some time to ‘get’ the trend and not because I want to wear the real thing but more because I wasn’t sure of the faux staying power. I’m a classic soul deep down and as much as I want to be fashionable I do tend to err on the side of caution.
So, it is time to break out, be a little adventurous (within reason) and make a move towards the faux fur.
The question is how brave to be?
The faux fur pale shades are truly wonderful as are the primary colours. And what about the emerald? Then there are those coats and shawls embellished with embroideries and those with varying lengths of faux all over; clipped to perfection.
Not to mention my deeply enduring love affair with leopard this season.
Maybe I will over-faux it and not stop at one; or should I say FOMO; faux of missing out. (sorry couldn’t help myself)
I like the idea of a knee length coat and I am also partial to a wrap and the 3/4 length too.
Decisions, decisions.
What I do know is I am excited to add a new dimension to my wardrobe and the decision making is always fun.
I have been scrolling and scrolling and found the best edit of the season is from Luisa Via Roma in Florence. Why would I be surprised?
This kind of adventurous fashion is what they do best. I love the Italians zest for life and the way it is reflected in their fashion sense; I will never be as brave or daring as Anna Della Russo but secretly, I wish I were.
I do think it is how you wear the faux fabulous that makes all the difference.
I am inclined to be brave with the piece but downplay the accessorising. The furry boots won’t be featuring at the same time.
For the weekend, a faux fur will be ideal come rain, hail or snow. I am going to wear mine with a classic turtleneck, jeans and some simple boots. That is probably as far as I will go. I might venture out with the LBD underneath; that could work well too.
Anna Della Russo doesn’t have to worry about being upstaged quite yet, but it is a start. xv
