Yesterday I walked the 2nd and found myself immersed in the colour and excitement of rue Montorgueil.
A shopping street for Parisians and a fabulous destination for an apero after work.
Cafés… in every colour.
Boulangeries, patisseries, boucheries, poissonneries… cheese, fruit and vegetables… shops, one after the other with more edible temptation than is fair.
The most beautiful pharmacies… filled with modern potions full of promise… set against a time gone by.
Do you remember Almost French?
The wonderful memoir by Australian journalist, Sarah Turnbull… the before ‘Eat, Pray Love’ phenomenon that had us dreaming of a life in Paris… her book was set in this area.
After my visit, I am going to re-read it… immerse myself in her tale and learn more about the character of rue Montorgueil… xv
