Let’s Be The ‘Girl With The Pearl Earring’

What’s not to love about a pearl earring?

Like the rest of the wardrobe, my ears have been left unattended this last year and without adornment. After the fabulous shot, I showed you on Monday of  Diliana Florentin I have been searching for pearl earrings ever since.

I love a pearl and especially a dropped pearl earring. The luster lightens the face, even if they aren’t the real deal and add a feminine feel to whatever you are wearing. They are particularly lovely worn with the all-white  – jeans, sweater or blouse – and truly fabulous with a black dress, suit or turtleneck and Capri length pants.

As I seem to be going for the Rapunzel tresses I find the longer drops are quite fun. Some would say they lengthen the face; I’m not convinced by that and like the more dramatic styles. Pearls tend to be light to wear which I find to be a win for comfort.

The oversized pearl stud is also a great look if you don’t like the whole dingle-dangle feeling. Remember our major crush on the Dior doubles a few years ago; those were never off my ears.

I’m so ready to dress up my ears. There is something incredibly feminine and right about pearls. xv

I will most definitely continue to wear my pearl earrings as well as diamond studs! Now that here in the states we have been given the green light to go out without a mask (yes, we can but I will still wear a mask) I hope to at least put on a nice dress, wear some nice jewelry and go visit a friend. Anything to get out of the house.

Anything!! The joy of the dress up, Anita… We are about to start properly socialising and a bit of travelling here .. but many countries still not possible – Just going out and about will do me, I don’t need an airport to dress up ;)

I’m so with you on pearls and over then the years seem to have had many combinations. My current ones are single a drop pearl with a slight flat uneven finish but absolutely love them. So simple and stylish! Great choice Vicki.

They are timeless arent they Janet? I do love them and wonder how I could possibly forget these beauties? They are well in my radar now :)

I love a pearl too! I wear my stud earrings with dressy casual as well as casual. I always wear earrings …my gold hoops seems to have been a permanent extension of my ear this last year:-) The restrictions in the US are lifting as more people get vaccinated…I wonder how fashion will change in the coming year…

I don’t always wear them and wish I did, Jeanne… lazy I guess but tend to wear them when I dress up and as that’s been languishing so has my ear decor!

The Met Museum in NYC makes my favorite faux pearl drops of all time. The earrings are inspired by Rubens “Venus in Front of a Mirror” I bought mine over thirty years ago when the Met had a major Rubens exhibition, and they are still sold in the Met store today. I don’t particularly like pearl rings, but I LOVE pearl necklaces and earrings, both real and faux.

I remember visiting the Met and afterwards their store and being amazed at how many fabulous pieces they had… a visit would be welcome :)
