So much beauty contained in one glass vase, no wonder the master artisan's loved to paint still life's.

Have a lovely week-end and enjoy your beautiful roses.

How beautiful and I can just imagine the smell. I grew up in a household that had roses in our garden but Dad would never let us pick them. According to him, they looked better on the plant than in a vase. He's still the same. I pick mine as soon as they bud to enjoy inside. Hope you have time to smell the roses over the weekend.

These are incredibly beautiful, I love how you have effortlessly placed them in a simple vase with the surrounding objects and art….just simply stunning!

These are beautiful, to be surrounded by olive trees and decadent blooms must be delightful. You would enjoy our Chelsea Flower Show, which is on at present.

Thanks for this lovely image. Portland, Oregon is known as "The city of roses," and this weekend begins our 2-week long Rose Festival which happens along our beautiful waterfront park and at dozens of venues around the city with fireworks and the popular Grand Floral Parade. Have a great weekend also!

What a gift on a cold late Autumn morning in Auckland!!

I can almost SMELL the perfume from that lovely bouquet, such beautiful colours too…

What's in a name? that which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet; From Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet.

How thoughtful of you!!
Do have a fun filled weekend where ever you are just now.

As soon as I opened this image I gasped. The beauty of this abundant colour grab literally took my breath away. It's probably fortunate that we don't have 'smellaputer' otherwise I would have been on the floor. Enjoy your weekend in your lovely garden.

Heaven in a vase !
Looks as if you have my very favourite rose amongst those gorgeous blooms – is it a Cecile Brunner ?
We are now in Provence and LOVING every single minute – I cannot believe how prolific the rose bushes are here – and that's coming fom a Perthite where roses do well even though it is so hot and dry…
Vicki, I can so relate to how you love life in this part of the world … mind you I am feeling very mellow and in love with life after a delightful meal at Bistro du Paradou !!!
Enjoy the weekend,
Joanna Brazier xx

Wow! Oh now this would have to be my dream. I am surrounded by roses everyday at the florist — but there is nothing better than a fragrant garden rose.
mmmm – delicious!

Just the perfect pick-me-up thanks Vicki on a cold, grey & misty Adelaide Hills Sunday. A glorious riot of colour to give my day a fabulous zing!

P.S. Thanks for your lovely comment re La Mirande. I hadn't reached that chapter in French Essence, so I grabbed my copy & have just enjoyed reading it in front of the fire. Carla's images are, as always exquisite. I especially loved her view into Le Salon Rouge.

Bonjour from Perth. My roses are almost finished so it was a joy to see yours and to find your blog. French Essence has pride of place on my coffee table at the moment.

How fantastic to have roses like that in your own garden – I am envious. I love the way you have combined the pale pink with the bright. Just beautiful!
