The Indispensable: Leopard Print #3

The Indispensable: Leopard Print #3

#3 in the leopard print series is indispensable in my view.

For me, it is the dress.

I don’t say it is first on my list but is definitely one I want in my cupboard.

For some it is a coat, a wrap or shoes (we will talk about those next) and don’t misunderstand I absolutely love a leopard coat and an accessory.

Probably a faux leopard print coat is number one on my list this year but the dress, the leopard print dress is a winner.

What Is Your Can’t Live Without?

What Is Your Can’t Live Without?

There is one piece in my wardrobe I can’t live without.

Can you guess?

Mine is the blazer.

The long one, the shorter one, the one with buttons, the one without; the blazer is my go-to for just about every occasion and event.

Especially when I am travelling.

The blazer solves those decisions I don’t wish to spend making and whether I wear one over jeans, pants or a fuller skirt, I am happy.

Do you know that feeling when you put on a piece and it feels “Goldilocks” right?

Hong Kong And A Love Of Embroidery

Hong Kong And A Love Of Embroidery

Hong Kong and my search for embroidery continues.

I have had a love affair with Hong Kong since forever and part of this love affair includes embroidery. Embroidered anything to be precise.

My first trip to Hong Kong at the age of ten was an eye-opener. Hong Kong was a very different place in those days and the quest for embroidery far easier than it is today. Hong Kong is a fabulous fast-paced city with an eye for the modern rather than the traditional.

I understand desire for change and progress, but my love for the old-style continues.

Side Swipe, I Mean Side Stripe

Side Swipe, I Mean Side Stripe

I have had a crush on the side stripe for a while now.

There was a great pair of velvet track style pants in my wardrobe with satin stripes for some time. They worked in so many ways, until they didn’t. That was more about a fabric split than a style malfunction.

A new pair is definitely in order.

Let’s think of these trousers as an addition to our ‘black and white’ dressing rather than as humble athletic pants.

That ship sailed a while ago.

The side stripe pant may have its origins in sportswear but it is a pant to be worn everywhere and in a variety of ways.

Khaki (once called olive) Is The New Black

Khaki (once called olive) Is The New Black

Who would have thought there could be a crush on olive?

It doesn’t seem right.

I don’t actually think of olive as olive, I think of the sludgy, slightly dull but very flattering soft shade of green as khaki.

Khaki has become my new black.

Jump For Joy, It Is The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Jump For Joy, It Is The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Nordstrom are in the midst of their Anniversary sale and it is a good one.

For some reason they choose to discount new merchandise and I have never really understood, but I am not about to argue.

This is the Anniversary sale where I stock up on the basics and replace those pieces that need to freshen up.

My words and writing skills might be in relaxed holiday mode but my ability to find the best deals is alive and well.

However relaxed and out of ‘work synch’ I might be I can always find what she wants in record time :)
