The Simple Way To Detox

The Simple Way to Detox on vickiarcher.com

The simple way to detox?

Is there such a thing? I mean, has detoxing ever been simple?

Lily tells me there are certain foods to aid detox and they are easy and delicious to incorporate in our diets. The more I learn from Lily, the more I see a pattern emerging. There are some foods we can’t avoid and we shouldn’t.

After the summer and a little vacation time I need to up my intake of these foods.

What about you? Do you have any others we should include in our detox regime? xv

Over to Lily,

With the abundance of pollution, alcohol, medicines, pesticides and the exposure to chemically derived cleaning products; the liver could definitely do with a little more support.

The Simple Way To Detox

Dandelion greens

Dandelion greens are a top food choice for supporting detoxification. These bitter greens stimulate bile flow. Bile is necessary for transporting toxins away from the liver to be eliminated via the digestive tract.

Beetroot

Fresh beetroot is a powerful liver support and cleansing food. The purple pigment within beetroot, called betalin can aid the detoxification process. Beetroot has the added benefit of stimulating bile flow, therefore aiding the excretion of toxins from the body.

Broccoli

If you’re serious about your detox, then broccoli is a must. Broccoli can enhance detoxification. Broccoli contains special plant nutrients called glucosinolates and these are responsible for supporting detoxification.

Turmeric

The bright orange colour of turmeric comes from its active component Curcumin. Curcumin is well known to stimulate bile production for healthy elimination of toxins. Bile can also help rejuvenate liver cells.

Aspargaus

Asparagus is rich in an antioxidant called glutathione. In the liver, glutathione binds to toxins for safe excretion and this a crucial step within toxin elimination.

Cabbage

The glucosinolates in cabbage help towards detoxifying liver enzymes.

Green cabbage has the added benefit of being rich in chlorophyll which is know to bind to toxins, and reduce toxic load.

Artichokes

Artichokes contain special plant antioxidants called caffeoylquinic acids. These antioxidants can stimulate bile flow and ultimately help the elimination of toxins. Artichokes have also been shown to help regenerate liver cells.

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are extremely rich in fibre.

Fibre binds to toxins and supports their excretion via the digestive tract.

Organic Eggs

Protein is an essential component of detoxification. Studies have shown that a low protein diet can impair liver function, and decrease levels of detoxifying liver enzymes.

p.s

another way to add a little green into your life ;)
