Weekend Wardrobe: Flutter Sleeves + Embroidery

Flutter Sleeves on vickiarcher.com

Feeling a flutter?

Around this time of the year, I do look forward to more relaxed dressing. Relaxed dressing conjures holidays, calmness and generally a more casual way to dress. A little bohemian, a touch of embroidery and plenty of room to move are the components I am looking for.

Dresses and blouses are where it’s at when it comes to a flutter sleeve.

A flutter sleeve gives a little coverage and a load of confidence. It’s like the sleeve you wear when you don’t want to wear a sleeve. Know what I mean?

The same goes for embroidery, or fabric that gives the same vibe. I love that, especially worn with a pair of white or blue jeans; it’s the best.

Here’s My Shortlist:

Everything about these blouses works for me. Pretty, practical and easy for now.

Too much a flutter? Check out THE EDIT; all my secrets are hiding there. xv

Wonderful pieces, Vicki! And there are iterations for women of various tastes and ages. Our son arrived in town last evening, bringing his girlfriend to meet the family–so exciting!–and I of course noted that she was wearing a lovely dress. It was quite similar in style to that prairie land” dress you linked to. Perfect!

I like “testing” when I select suggestions… if we can all wear the majority of the pieces at any age or we can adapt them to suit us… I believe that is where fashion truly should stand.. :)

Good morning Vicki!

I love a fluttering sleeve, especially the short variety that are more like little epaulettes that rest off of the shoulder. Enjoy going out in a cool, light and airy dress; we have many more warm days ahead!

This is why I keep my clothes for a long time. So many things come back in style. I have several tops I bought in Paris a number of years ago that would fit right in to this. Guess I will bring them back out again.

I think that the only caveat for these lovely, fluttery blouses is that the more voluminous ones can look a bit top heavy. I think they work best on those whose hips are considerably wider than their shoulders
