Weekend Wardrobe: The Fair Isle

Weekend Wardrobe: The Fair Isle on vickiarcher.com

The Fair Isle sweater, not the Fair Isle where I live.

That’s a much more complex conversation for a weekend ;)

I have been looking at these Fair Isle sweaters and deciding whether I should add one to my weekend wardrobe; I have decided it’s a go.

Fair Isle has been a piece I have worn on and off over the years – I seem to remember wearing this style of the sweater over a pleated skirt with a waist belt on top; those were the days. Now I prefer the sweater loose and worn with casual pants, especially a discreet check or darker tartan plaid. Add a pair of lace-up boots or shoes and a jacket of choice and a weekend look is made easy.

This one I adore in both colourways and especially with these pants.

Have a happy one, xv.

I love them too and they do remind me ( in a lovely way) of my childhood-little tartan pleated skirts and fair isle jumpers on top! I opened this email of yours just after watching a travel program on Iceland and loved all the fair isle the locals were wearing.
Sweltering a little here down under but so envious of those of you who get to have a winter Christmas. For the doting Grannies out there- look at the Boden children’s fair isle and Christmas jumpers- cute as a button!

Oh now you’ve given me another fashion tip that I’ve seem to miss…this is perfect for where I live and I love the idea of wearing one with a skirt! YES!

I just bought my first Fair Isle from Nordstrom (grey with pink and teal) and will pair it with black suede leggings.
