What Else For The Holidays?

After the dresses, what is next to think about?

After the presents and the wrapping – nearly done – the packing is happening and last is the beauty/make-up bag.

I like to travel light in this department.

Taking too many potions is not my idea of a relaxing break. Cleansing, serum, nourishing and maybe a mask alongside a minimum make-up is my goal. Sometimes if I think there will be time for a beauty detox – and this holiday I am making time – there will be a little extra treat for a long and lazy bath.

What about holiday make-up?

Make-up has become more and more minimum for me and my bag contains a small selection of tried and true favourites.

My Top 10 checklist:

Primer,   Concealer,   Tinted Coverage,   Whitening Eye Kajal,   Darker Eye Pencil

Mascara,   Eyebrow Gel,   Translucent Powder,   Lip Pencils,   Fragrance

On holidays I leave the blusher at home and use the lip pencils for highlighting.

This is a quick make-up routine and one I can almost complete with my eyes shut. In the evenings I swap the nude lip for the deeper shade and add a bit more eye drama with the pencil. The days of an elaborate make-up routine have long passed me by.

The Countdown is on here.

Finish wrapping, start packing and holidays here we come. xv

Good morning dearest Vicki! Like you, I travel light. I love your suggestion here for a “detox.” I need a stress detoxing vacation and after today, two weeks of rest should do the trick. The best beauty secret is returning back to who you are, resting the mind and letting yourself back in again. Happy holidays!

Hi Vicki

I’m glad you posted again about the Chantecaille pencil. I ran out and bought it and it really works!

I did find, though, that once you had to sharpen it, things got a bit tricky. It was hard to get the soft makeup part to protrude enough to prevent the sharpened pointy pencil bits (you know, the part holding the makeup in the pencil) from accidentally scraping the eyelid.

I dug through my bag and found a sephora mix and match eyeshadow kit I had bought, one of which had a light beige-y slightly gold/shimmer eyeshadow color. What I do now is use a Q tip and swipe it as the inner-rim color (fresh end for each eyelid, so I’m not sticking the QTip back in the eyeshadow). It’s rather similar, a bit of shimmer, and I don’t have to worry about my inept sharpening skills.

Have a great holiday with your family!
