What to wear for the reps, the resistance and the cardio?
With this confession out in the open I concede the benefits of regular gym, whether it be a workout, Pilates class or yoga session; I feel more energised and happier. The downsides to a life on the computer and long winters are the piling on of unwanted pounds and a tendency to be too sedentary. This is a well-known trap for young players and I should know better.
Better late than never. Right?
There is one problem I have with this kind of activity and that is the clothing. What to wear?
It makes no sense but I am mean when it comes to workout clothes? This is the woman who spends infinite hours on the internet perusing fashion, can find the right shoe blindfolded and probably can list every “it” bag from the last two decades. Fashion is a passion that never fades.
It is important for our confidence and wellbeing to dress for all occasions and the gym is no different. It’s time, with the sales in full flight, to apply my online shopping skills to smarten up the workout and dress myself appropriately. I won’t be channelling Olivia Newton John in Let’s Get Physical, fluro and techno stretch is probably best left in the ’70’s, but I will replace my old “dark” gear with some new and improved pieces.
My shopping basket stayed true to athleisure right through checkout and these pieces are winging their way home. xv
p.s if you are wondering, the text behind the images is, “wake me up before you go go” by wham. remember, workouts with this blaring and the arms flying. singing along, here.
