White is all I want on these scorching hot summer days.
We have arrived in Sicily to clear skies, dry temperatures in the 80-90’s and full on sunshine. As much as I love wearing my all black and black and white combinations, today is the day for all white.
In addition to the linen dresses we talked about last week (which are perfect for this European summer travelling) I have another new favourite; the white lace dress. It’s a different look, a little more “ornate” but I like it just the same and it is a switch up from the plain shirt or shirtdress.
Today I will wear this style with my Stan Smith sneakers, still the fashion and so comfortable. The sneaker is hotter to wear than a sandal or mule but as the day will be about walking and sightseeing I would rather be comfortable and protected. Tonight I will change into a pair of mules and feel that bit more “dressed”. This is not the trip for heels. Phew!
I never really considered white lace, thinking it too bridal and as black is my default position, so were my lace pieces. They form a good portion of my “dressing up” wardrobe so now I am extending to “summer” white and will be wearing a more casual version in lace.
The “overlay” style is one that works well. The panels cover what we like covered and the sheerness makes for cool and comfortable. Oftentimes lace dresses are not 100% cotton and the overlay style helps with this.
I have found a few styles that make a brilliant addition to our summer wardrobes – and on sale.
