Taking notes or writing lists is not something I generally do. I remember.
I have been blessed with good memory and I don’t forget too much, too often. I hardly use a diary or an appointment schedule. I have never been one for lists, although I understand the benefits and I am sure they would enhance my sometimes chaotic life.
There are some life notes that should be recorded as much for us as our children, friends and family.
I don’t believe age matters; helpful advice is invaluable.
I have written down some thoughts that occur to me as important guidelines.
They are in no particular order of significance nor are they definitive, simply written as they came to me.
Taking Note
1. Live in the moment. Don’t let life pass by in a blur, drive your own destiny and achievements. Make them your own.
2. Laugh. Laugh long and often and be sure to live your life with someone who can share in that laughter.
3. Value friendships. Nurture them for they are what sustain us and make us the best version of ourselves.
4. Trust your instincts. Listen to those inner thoughts for guidance.
5. Be generous. The generosity of thought and of action will be the best payback.
6. Be appreciative. Notice the advantages that come your way; be gracious and grateful. Never forget the power of thank you.
7. Don’t be afraid to say sorry. Accept that we can’t get it all right, all of the time.
8. Positivity in the face of adversity. The positive will come out of a setback. Look for the silver lining, it is invariably there.
9. Be true to yourself. Never care what others think of you, it is what you think about them that counts.
10. Be committed, be engaged. Believe in yourself and the rest will follow. Fear is unproductive and promotes failure.
Sentimental thoughts, yes. Worth noting. xv
