What’s in the beach bag?
I’m packing for a week at the beach and so my mind is drifting with great enthusiasm to long lazy swims in crystal clear water and casual relaxed evenings outside.
I think about the pack in two parts; for the face and for the body.
The face means I am focussed on skincare, sun protection and a dab of make-up. Less is always more at the seaside.
I want to pack light so I am careful and take only my tried and true favourites plus a few tubes of bright lipstick.
The clothes to take are a little more complicated because a beach holiday mean the pieces I would normally pack are not the ones I want to be wearing.
Classic, tailored and monochrome is not the vibe I will be going for. I’m thinking more like carefree and bohemian, {within reason}.
The kaftans and cover-ups will be key, a couple of pretty blouses to wear with capri-style pants and my swimsuits. I’ll add a hat, a cute beach basket and some dingle dangle earrings; that should do it. A pair of sneakers to travel in and sandals for the rest of the days.
I’m so looking forward to that sense of freedom beach dressing provides; nothing has to be perfect and it’s a holiday where the more eccentric inner style can flourish and the city conservatism and elegance take a break.
I might even leave the hair alone; now that is freedom. xv
