If there is one city to make an entrance it is Venice.
Is it the visitor who makes the entrance or is it Venice who grabs all the attention?
I can’t help but feel it is the latter. From the moment the boat drops throttle and turns into the first canal it is impossible not to be in awe of this incredible city.
Venice is like no other.
When the turn is made into the Grand Canal it is nothing short of awesome; whether it is the first or the tenth visit to Venice. There is nowhere like it; it is a city of dreams and silvery ones at that.
This is my first trip not in the dead of winter.
I cannot wait to explore my well known haunts, discover yours and hopefully add a few more to our list.
Today, we will walk and walk with a detour to Palazzo Grassi. It’s the first day and no real plans feel like the best plan. We won’t rush the day, we will ease in gently as to experience Venice is to take time and observe. I feel Venice is as much about a stroll as Venice is about an exhibition.
There is a chill in the air and the day will need dressing for; seeing I overpacked I should be just fine ;)
The only question left to ponder is what to wear; it’s time to move and fall in love all over again with this magical place.
I’m thinking today is the day for the military style jacket over my very favourite leather leggings with a fine knit underneath and a cashmere scarf for good measure.
Venice, we can’t wait. xv
