“Every day” means different things to different people.
When it comes to dresses, I love an “everyday” dress.
By every day, I mean a dress that can take me from whoa to go with very little fuss; a dress I not only like but also feel good about wearing. I’ve been wearing dresses a lot lately, especially over the last few days – the weather is in between and so is my sense of style. It doesn’t feel right to be too summery and nor do I feel comfortable in anything too heavy. This is the perfect time to circulate and re-circulate the dresses.
What makes a good “everyday” dress?
Obviously, it has to be a flattering fit.
Comfort is high on my list of priorities.
A dress I can accessorize with my bracelets or earrings is a dress to love.
Moving is essential; an everyday dress needs to be fluid so we can do what we do.
Cover up is part of my brief. I’ve never been a show all and everything dresser and even less so now. I’m not thinking Cossack tunic but I do like a bit of a sleeve and my knees covered. Old-fashioned? Maybe.
I don’t care but the truth is none of it looks as good as I would like. Know what I mean?
A few good dresses, one for each day of the working week, is what I’m wearing. xv
