Can it really be Monday again?
Non-acceptance equates with bliss.
Everyday is a fabulous day and Monday should be no different.
Monday is the reason the weekends are so special and why a long weekend is even more delicious.
If I start complaining about a Monday I try and think again. I like to prolong Mondays, stretch them out and aim to make them my most favourite day of the week.
Mind games, maybe? It works though.
I want to wake up on Monday morning and hit the ground running. I want to feel refreshed and rejuvenated and excited for the week ahead. I don’t want to start a new day with my thoughts dragging.
Monday is not always an easy one to conquer; I have a go-to checklist in the back of my mind to navigate the end of the weekend and set me up for a fabulous week ahead.
5 Ways To Make The Most Of Monday
- relax on Sunday
- Monday can’t work in our favour if we burn ourselves out on Sunday.
- Rest and relaxation, both mental and physical prepare us to be our best selves for a new week.
- Sunday night sleep is the most important and always the hardest one for me to do well; it requires a concerted effort and focus on good sleep techniques.
start the day early
Start Monday how you see the week ahead.
Exercise to set the week’s pattern and be ready, set and go earlier than needed.
Be ahead of yourself and avoid that feeling of “never catching up”.
something to look forward to
Schedule the diary to include something you really want to do or are excited about.
Mondays should include some fun and a reason to want to get up and going. Work on the new best piece, start a fresh chapter or visit a favourite client. Make sure Monday works for you.
lists, lists and more lists
Monday is list day, planning day.
Start Monday with a plan and the remainder of the week will dovetail like a dream.
Lists make us think aloud and provide inspiration, organisation and structure when we least feel like it. Lists are a legitimate way to talk to us.
take a break
Hit the ground running on a Monday but control the pace.
Take breaks throughout the day when possible; walk around, get outside and look away from the computer.
Try the 20/20 rule; 20 minutes looking at the screen then 20 seconds looking away. It is a habit to learn but it makes a difference.
And did I mention, wear a new lipstick.
Monday is definitely the day for that, xv.
