It is not often “puffy” is a happy word in my vocabulary.
Puffer jackets are back in their stride and for a versatile and practical item, they are looking pretty good. It’s all about how we wear them. I’m not thinking ski wear but puffer jackets to wrap up in and stay cosy; the once only walk-the-dog or hike-in puffers have become a regular fashion staple this season.
I’m not complaining, I love when practicality gets promoted.
Even since moving to Europe, I have been crazy for puffer jackets. Possibly because I never had occasion to wear one before in my southern hemisphere world. Over the last 20 years, they have been in and out of my wardrobe and it is the time one was put back.
I’m not convinced we need the super expensive model as gorgeous as they are because there are plenty of puffers around to look equally fabulous in without burning the bank.
*Choose the length that works best and start layering.
*The jeans, boots and turtleneck are a winning combination but don’t dismiss the humble puffer as a finish for the finer wear. A dress, with a long line puffer on top, can look seriously chic. If your waist allows the addition of a thick and tight belt is very smart.
*Try the shorter length style of puffer coat with a patterned pair of pants; think tartan, brocade or even a jewelled coloured silk pair.
*Consider a velvet puffer; a relaxed piece in a luxe fabric is a winning combination.
At this point in the season, I’m all for praising the puffer. x
