Have you watched, And Just Like That?
It is one of those you either love to love or don’t at all. It’s light, frothy and slightly ridiculous at times but I do love seeing the vibrant fashions back on our radar. It might not be suitable for our life dictates or what our style radar is brave enough to wear but it does get me thinking about amping up my efforts and re-working certain pieces and combinations.
Take the skirt.
I’m talking extravagant skirts. Once upon a time, my wardrobe burst forth with crunchy taffetas and frothy tulles – even sequins had their day. Where are they now? They have gone to fashion heaven where they look down on me and shake their shiny crinkly beauty and mock my short-sightedness. They know I know. I want them back. I mightn’t go all glam like SJP but I could work up my look without too much trouble.
The place to start is the slightly fuller black taffeta – if you are braver then go full-on colour and patterns. I can see myself wearing this style with a cropped fitted sweater and my chunkier boots or trainers. Throw over a puffer (yes, it’s still necessary) or a top coat and our everyday look gets a contemporary and interesting make-over. I love the way one new shape can create a myriad of looks out of our current ones.
Off to watch the last episode of AJLT to fulfill my fashion fantasies. xv
p.s note to self; start dressing up and looking like i mean it
