Coming home after two weeks of New York’s excitement and energy has left me somewhat foggy and muddle-headed.
That’s the Atlantic jet lag for you; I have been staying up until all hours and dragging myself out of bed in the mornings. No complaints though, I don’t think there is anything like an injection of New York to get the mind engaged.
I don’t know what it is about the energy of New York that is so different to other major cities; there is an added buzz. Is it that the city is not my hometown so I am more susceptible or does everyone feel the same? Wandering out and about in London yesterday, trying to clear the brain and get the body moving, I felt that the pace is gentler here and less frenetic. It could well be my imagination but that’s the impression and the differences I feel between London and New York. Perhaps New Yorkers feel the same when they are in London?
A new month and a holiday season have well and truly kicked in during my absence.
The streets are feeling festive, the shops magical with their window displays and gift idea emails are flying around in cyber space every few seconds. After last weekend and my strategic attack on the sales, I am a little shopped out; not the right mood with less than three weeks until the 25th.
I know my enthusiasm will re-appear, once my hazy brain clears and I will find some brilliant gifts for the holidays.
We are having Christmas in Provence and I can’t wait. I can’t wait to decorate, dress the tree, stock up the kitchen and have my family around me. It’s time and busy years make you value the holiday period even more.
So I wanted to say I am back, a big hello and let’s get this December started, xv
