How to feel MORE glamorous?
I have the answer and it is easy; wear a kaftan.
I am not sure why but whenever I wear my kaftans I do feel more glamorous. Perhaps I am reminded of the ’70’s vibe and can channel my inner Zandra Rhodes; fortunately the glamour does not run to a re-make of the pink hair. Not yet anyway; never say never.
Kaftans, are the one piece of clothing that get away with an oftentimes eccentricity of print, riot of colour and volume of fabric.
I like all styles of kaftans; the ornate, the embroidered and the simple. I have worn the same kaftan to the beach, around the pool and to a black tie event. The only difference between the occasions was the accessories added or subtracted.
I like kaftans with all the beads and bangles.
It’s one of those times the more the merrier looks even better.
The best news about the kaftan; they are ageless, whether we look big or small is irrelevant and most of all, I think kaftans suit everyone. xv
How To Feel Glamorous In A Kaftan
- * wear a shape and length to suit
- I like a kaftan to sit above my ankle and to be drawn in under the bust line; almost empire style. I like the sleeves to be at least mid arm and often cut on the angle.
- *don’t be afraid of colour and prints
- The relaxed nature of the kaftan style allows for much more leeway than when wearing tailored fashion.
- *change the shoes to match the event
- Wear the lace up flat around the pool or to lunch but add a small heel for the evening.
- *accessorise with a sense of fun and purpose
- Don’t be afraid to wrap around the necklaces and stack the bangles during the day; in the evening add a fabulous pair of drop earrings and keep the neckline bare.
