I am slowly forgetting the time delays.. The lengthy wait for planning permission, the exhausting renovation process and the inevitable hiccoughs along the way.
The builders have all but finished.. A few little touch ups and last minute changes.. All in all Le Petit Bijou is ready for furnishing…
This is the part of the puzzle I love… When all the pieces come together and you can see the results of everybody’s hard work.
Le Petit Bijou has truly been a group effort …
My husband’s courage to buy the house in the first place… an unloved and uncared for little jewel in the best of locations… in the heart of the historic centre in Saint Rémy de Provence.
The architect’s vision and clever use of space… working with Hugues Bosc and his team is such a pleasure… They make the complicated easy and allow you to feel that nothing is impossible.
Christiane’s management skills have made
Le Petit Bijou come together… and any of you who visit Saint Remy de Provence and stay at the house will experience her infectious and generous Provençal nature… I hope you ask her to cook her almost world famous ‘tomato tart’ … heavenly… A recipe that I have been trying to master for years…
Gérard, her husband and the manager of our farm, is my right hand and he will help me with all the finishing touches.. Hang the paintings and the mirrors.. re-arrange the furniture many times, all without complaint. He has a very good eye, manages to understand my ideas and instructions… and humours my need for the ‘perfect’ with such charming grace.
Not to mention my ability to scour endless markets in the hunt for the right piece… There are never too many
brocantes for me… Creating this little home away from home and sourcing the pieces that will shape and define the character and ambience of
Le Petit Bijou is where all the fun lies…
In the last few days we have started to move the furniture in…
Yesterday the ‘bibliotheque’ was delivered… last night I started playing around with the styling… I found the old painted skittles in Avignon… they now live on the third shelf…
This morning the table and chairs arrived… I am pleased with the vintage fabrics on the dining room seats… they were worth the wait and worth the hunt….
The bedroom chairs, upholstered in toile du jouy will be in place by this evening… so it’s on schedule… just…
I wanted to show you a peak… more to come… xv
