Can we ever have enough pearls?
These days I see so many fabulous small earrings; delicate everyday designs to work whether you have single or multiple ear piercings. Speaking of piercings, what do you think?
I am a one-hole-in-each-ear girl and this is not because I don’t think multiples can look attractive, it is because I cannot imagine having any more piercings performed. My first ear piercing at the age of 22 was traumatic enough, as ridiculous as that was, I simply don’t like it; the idea and the feeling that is.
My favourite earrings for some time have been the double pearls, one small and one large pearl stud worn on the front and back of the ear, made famous by Dior a couple of years back.
Recently I have changed the double pearls, or at least retired them for a moment, in favour of the fine pearl drops with a little dangle and twist. I can envision wearing a variety of them on my lobes if I was brave enough to pierce.
For now, I must be content with one in each ear.
The other pearl earrings I love are in a loop style. These styles of loops, with a fine hoop or twist of gold, add length and interest around the face. I find with the longer, greying hair an earring is important. When I wear my hair tied back I go for a smaller earring; the hair down and I am wearing the loops. Piercings may not be for made for me but earrings, that’s another story. xv
