I do.
Sometimes when I open my wardrobe doors and see a line of what looks like the same jacket hanging one after the other I take myself to task and promise myself I will change tack. Why can’t I try another style?
I don’t because the blazer is like my best friend, always there and with me when I need it. I can’t live without a blazer and I might change the length, the details or the cut but it is the one item of clothing that really makes me feel well put together. Whether I wear it with matching trousers or not, it is my go-to and the blazer is always the first item in my suitcase when packing.
This season I may become braver and venture into colour with the blazer, although no promises as the neutrals are seriously tempting. I like the all cream look or the monochrome when it comes to tailored pieces. J. Crew have re-released their Regent blazer in fabulous shades and textures; it is not only good value but also a great fitting and very flattering jacket.
The blazer, a little like the leather jacket, is a uniform of sorts. Dressing needs to be easy and who has time to think and re-think outfits over and over? It is a great freedom knowing what works and doesn’t in the wardrobe… xv
