How do we combine health and happiness?

It is easier if the 7 golden rules become part of our daily lives.

We are what we eat.

The right diet can make us feel healthier, more energetic and even more content.

7 Golden Rules To Be Healthy And Happy

Happiness is homemade.

Nothing beats homemade food from fresh ingredients. Say goodbye to chemicals, preservatives, colourings, salt, sugar and excess fat.

Make fat your friend and sugar your enemy.

Fat is not the villain and certainly doesn’t make us fat. Essential for so many bodily systems, we should be eating more avocado, oily fish, nuts, seeds and cold-pressed oils.

A healthy gut means a happy mind.

90% of our happy hormone, serotonin is found within the gut – our gut really is our second brain. The latest science has shown that boosting gut health can boost our happiness too.

Eat more natural live yoghurt, sauerkraut, Jerusalem artichokes, garlic, broccoli, and ginger, beetroot, turmeric and dark leafy greens.

Today’s preparation is tomorrow’s success.

With the right food to hand, a healthy diet will be at your fingertips. When cooking, always make more than you need. Store batches of food in the freezer and you will never go short on home cooked food when time is short.

Pack in your morning protein punch.

There’s not doubt that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It is also the most important time to consume protein. Protein keeps blood sugar levels stable, keeping hunger at bay and preventing energy slumps throughout the day.

Eat more eggs, meat, oily fish, nuts, seeds, beans, pulses, and yoghurt.

Create healthy habits, not restrictions

Too many dietary restrictions can lead to failure. Create new healthy habits to enforce over time. Once created healthy habits can last a lifetime.

Always have ‘me time’

Each day carve out time for yourself where you can totally relax and de-stress. Have a bath, listen to music, read a novel or go for a brisk walk.
