Musee Rodin, it wasn’t a traditional visit.
Sometimes a visit to a familiar place won’t be as you would imagine.
Not surprising considering that the Musee Rodin is home to The Thinker.
The Musee Rodin in Paris is not only an extraordinary museum but also it is in the most beautiful setting.
On my last visit to Paris I went to Musee Rodin to wander in the garden, and enjoy the exterior views.
It’s an intimite place, not overwhelming… so peaceful and very calming.
As much as I was tempted by the interiors I wanted to spend my time outside.
Like the Parisians, who truly live in their city… the museum is not only for show or for visitors… it is for the locals.
To walk, to sit, to sketch.
It felt like an indulgence, almost an irreverance, to forgo inside the Musee Rodin what some might travel the world to see.
It was a luxury to absorb what can often be taken for granted.
The colour of the stone, the architectural details…the proportions and symmetry of the museum.
The gravelled walkways, the hidden sculptures… the avenues of trees and the rose gardens.
Sometimes the greatest adventures are about recognising a mood, embracing it and soaking it up.
Letting go of what you should do to enjoy what you would prefer to do.
Sometimes… less just feels like more… xv
