About time: That strange concept that drives absolutely everything in our lives.
We wait, we watch and we live in the boundaries of time. We may all have our own definition of the best way to use time, but we cannot escape it. Some of us are better at managing this partner in crime but none of us eludes time.
Unless of course we are magic.
With the buzz surrounding the Apple watch I am wondering whether I want to wear one. If not the Apple watch then which one to wear? Does this mean that celebratory presents don’t include special watches anymore? I remember turning 21 and being given a beautiful watch by my parents. It was almost a right of passage.
Times have changed.
I still wear a watch every day but I have discovered that I never really look at it anymore. I check the time on my computer, I glance sideways at my iPhone or I look outside the old fashioned way to estimate the time of day. My watch is a habit, a comfort to me but it does not tell me the time.
I think I will continue to wear a watch, but differently.
I am going to experiment, to wear fun watches, colourful watches and unpredictable watches.
I don’t know if I will wear The Apple watch. I’m waiting and I believe in never say never. So far the idea is not appealing to me but as one who is attached to the internet, social media and convenience I may well become a convert.
Meanwhile, I have found some less technical, but so much more interesting time options at Nordstrom. When I saw these ( a dose of jet lag can lead you to all sorts of places) I immediately thought summer, sunshine, care-free and caftans. Once summer shines I will want to ditch the city gear and leave the serious behind and I don’t think I want a watch that reminds me of what I should be doing or a watch that can make me be available 24/7.
Is that ridiculous? Am I acting my age?
This summer I want a watch that brightens my life, that makes me smile and helps me forget about what I should be doing.

That is the kind of time I will be keeping… xv
