Monochrome Mood: How To Wear All White

Feeing the monochrome mood?

Summer, apart from colour means wearing white, lots of white and often all in white.

I like all white, especially with the ‘going grey hair’ scenario.

What can be worn, the colour combinations, changes ever so slightly with a new hair colour. All white seems to work even better now my hair is more silver. The “all white” is kind on the skin and wearing monochrome is complimentary.

I don’t buy into the philosophy of not wearing white because it is less flattering than black. Marginally that is true but the trade-off is worthwhile.

Wearing all white makes me feel completely in relaxed mode; there is another plus.

When I can’t resist I will add in a little black, a tee or a jacket but I do try and wear all white whenever possible. It’s a combination to wear when we can; the days cannot be taken for granted. Winter and wearing the heavy will be here soon enough.

Wearing all white is easy if you know how.  I once thought “all white” meant all and everything; it doesn’t.

Monochrome Mood: How To Wear All White

Texture

When wearing head to toe white, mix the textures.

Wear linen and cotton shirts with jeans; contrast the fabrics.  When wearing linen or cotton pants add a knitted style of sweater or tee. Vary the chunky with the smooth.

50 shades of white

There are so many different “whites”, don’t be afraid to combine them. The more shades, the better the “all white” works.

All in the detail

Monochrome means the detail of the pieces is even more important.

An all white blouse worn over tailored pants can afford some detail, a frill, some lace or a ruffle. A plain tee worn with white capris or jeans affords the pants some further detail. Rolled cuffs, a discreet zipper here or there; a small detail to take the outfit from zero to hero.

Layer up

The “all white” is a brilliant look to layer and play with lengths.

A tunic style top over mid calf trousers or a short relaxed jacket can be worn over a long midi dress. One-colour outfits offer so much freedom. If shorts are a staple in summer, change the tee for a longer fuller style shirt.

The all-important accessories

Accessorising all white is where the fun starts.

Again it is about mixing textures; the bangles, the sunglasses and the handbags and shoes. I like to continue the theme and do shades of white from top to toe. I particularly love white sneakers and white espadrilles or a neutral shade of sandal; the camel colours aren’t white but they fit right in.
