This autumn, Tom Dixon in partnership with Wallpaper, is presenting Multiplex.
“For this year’s London Design Festival we present MULTIPLEX at The Old Selfridges Hotel, an immersive, multi-sensory department store of tomorrow.
Held to coincide with four of the most important events on London’s creative calendar – London Fashion Week, London Design Festival, the BFI London Film Festival and the Frieze art fair – MULTIPLEX brings together design, technology, fashion, film and interiors to explore how the future of retail might look, sound, smell, taste and feel.”
Multiplex is a kaleidoscope of colour and an emporium of temptation.
The raw space has been converted into a warm and inviting mecca of goods and services. It is where fashion, jewellery, interiors, technology and even a food hall can merge together; there are no retail rules here.
As an online shopping junkie, I did enjoy once again moving through a retail space, looking at displays and the artistry and intelligence behind them. I was reminded of the joy of touch, of why we aspire and appreciate objects in the first place.
Multiplex is open for a couple more weeks, if you are in London don’t miss the chance to visit. I am hopeful it will become a permanent fixture, xv.
